It is indeed a sad state to see the FD mount New Canon F-1
has to retired from service this way; it cannot even enjoy potential
benefit to utilize the more advance electronic EF mount as with the EOS
users back in 1986. As a detaching system users, you may use this site
for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among
yourself. Ihope this convenience provided can be of useful to all of
you who still owned this great piece of manual focus SLR. You may use
this message board as a guestbook for the camera. Enjoy.

Does anyone know if any Sunpak DX Flash (Sunpak DX 8R, in my case) with a CA-D2 Module operate with the same features as the Canon 199A when installed on a New F-1 Camera. Thanks2. From : Griffis (jshbluesky@gmail.com)

I picked up my fathers old f-1 a couple of years ago and its currently out of service due to the shutter curtain being 'ripped out.' Are their any other canon models which are compatible in respect to replacement? thanks.

In 1984 Canon hosted a photograophy contest in connection with the L.A. Olympics. The grand prize was a F1-N Olympics edition camera and an all expense paid trip to the Los Angeles games. I won this prize in the people category and had the fantastic opportunity to enjoy the games for a few days. I still have my camera and all the packaging and related materials, tickets, memorabilia from that once-in-a-life-time experience. We met the president of Canon USA at the time. It was a thrill.8. Sukh:
I do not know of a comparison list ...
The main difference is auto exposure:
The New F-1 offers Aperture (with AE viewfinder) or Shutter (with motor drive/winder) priority exposure.
Electronic shutter.
Spot metering (with Focus Screen)
1/4000s top speed
Brighter viewfinder and screens.

Jeff:
The three bodies are very similar in dimensions.
I have found that the New F-1 is a better fit in the hand
