Hi... I stumbled on this site looking for a battery for my F1 that I purchased new back in 1981. I have two AE 1 Program cameras, one with a silver top and one all black. I still have an old FL lens f1.2 which came with my Canon FT that I purchased in Vietnam back in 69. No longer have the FT body. Still have a few FD lens, 135mm f2, 17mm f4, 500mm mirror f8, 35mm f2, 50 to 135mm f3.5. Thanks for all the info. tom zangla/pennsylvania

Your site is absolutely great! Here in Germany it`s very hard to get good information about the F1. Thanx a
lot!

If anybody has got problems finding 1,35 V batteries for the F1-old: I just bought a large amount of them (>100) from an old photo-store that just closed down. They are called HD-625 mercury cell, replacement for EPX 626, MR-9. Exactly the same ones as they sell on photobattery.com. You can store them e.g. in your refrige for a life-time. -> I can sell 10 batteries for $30 inkl. shipping. Just ask me.

Greetings from Germany,
Stefan

I'm having problems with flash synch using my F1n, both using the Flash Coupler L hotshoe as well as the x-jack. The flash fires, but when the pictures are developed it's obvious the flash did not sync. I tried various flash units. Is this a common F1 problem ? Any help would be appreciated ..

Hi Jim, "Can you change lenses with film in the camera?" It's not a dumb question at all. With the Canon F-1...or any camera with a focal plane shutter...you can. All modern 35mm SLR cameras have focal plane shutters. (A focal plane shutter, as the name implies, is typically a rubberized cloth or metal curtain immediately in front of the film -- or focal -- plane). Some larger cameras, however, do not use focal plane shutters or use them in combination with lens shutters...shutters built into the lens itself. If a camera has only a lens shutter -- as in the case of a large format view camera -- then removing the lens WILL expose the film. That's why such cameras use a so-called "dark slide" -- a removable metal or plastic slide that shields the film from light when the lens is off the camera. Dark slides are usually installed in the removable film backs or film holders of medium and large format cameras.
