I have recently purchased a Nikon F3 SLR camera used.
It's in great condition and I was shooting on it just fine for 2 months.
I just changed film and wonder if I've accidentally tripped the Aperture Lock because the light meter holds a setting no matter what I change the aperture too.
I am trying to shoot flat images on a copy stand and was using Aperture Priority mode with the internal meter and it was working excellently until now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated?
Where is the aperture lock? Have I accidentally done something?
I took out one roll of film and put in another to see if that would change the situation and it didn't.

Nikon F3. I have two F3's - one a standard and one the HP version with pin-registered Double M Industries back. I recently tried to get both F3's up and running, after 10 years of good, dry storage, by inserting brand new MS76 batteries. I can not get the shutter to fire, the LCD display to light up, and am curious why. I understand the LCDs might go bad after a long time, but why would both cameras not fire up?

I own a Nikon F3 in MINT condition, serial 13805xx with 50 mm F 1:1.4 lens, serial 48496xxrubber, Nikon filter L1Bc, hood HS-9, lens cap, viewfinder antifog lens with eye cup, and leather case CF-20. This camera has been not used, I bought it at a time I was convinced I'm a very bad photographer, bud I liked cameras. The body has a white plastic protection (the size of the under part of body), that snaps on the tripod mount. But what intrigues me, is a black "cap" with the word NIKON, screwed on the shutter button. I never have seen another F3 camera with this cap or the body protector. Have this "extras" some meaning?
Cheers from Chile...

Someone knows how to determine date of manufacturing of a Nikon F3, maybe by researching serial number?
Mine has an original 50 mm f 1.4 lens manufactured in june 1981, according to serial Nº. I got it more than 10 years ago as part of a trade. It's in mint condition and has a black cap with the Nikon logo on the shutter button I never have seen in another camera. Any information welcome.
Thanks.

Is it possible to use the Nikon K-Ring (K1-K5) set on the F3 and the F3T without harming the camera body or the AiS manual focus lenses?

Hi, I just purchased an nikon f3 / motor drive. I also won nikkor 50mm f/1.4 lens Ai on ebay. great now I have a system. But my question is: the lens screws into the camera body but the "claw" like clasp doesn't hook up with anything and I don't get a shutter speed in the eye piece. Also, I don't have a light meter like I did with my F. Any information would be appreciated.

Regards,
Jay

Fill flash with SB-12 at 1/80 ? hmmm ... SB12 doesn't provide manual adjustment to power output such as 1/4, 1/8. 1/16 etc... so, you can either fool the flash with adjustment of the ASA, or put on a white cloth or transparent sheet on the flash to reduce the out put (assuming it is set at full burst). Fill flash should meter the scene first, then according to the metered suggestion, reduce slightly on the aperture used to offset the extra light from the metering. The trick is to meter the scene esp the background and NOT the subject, for an example, backlit human figure, meter the scene at the back and not the subject in backlit situation, the flash is to fill the shadow area but not affecting the overall scene. The degree of adjustment of flash burst and aperture selection or compensation all depends on different personal requirement.

Sure ! F3 and F3HP is just the difference between the two finders type, so does the rest of other F3 models (except the DX-1 autofocus assist finder, but again it can also be used on the F3 standard model but no AF function except for focus assistance only). F3 body is modular, just takes in any original accessories.
