Per Christensen, what you got her is the Original F-1 ... as the New F-1 does not have a mechanical self timer lever. http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1/index.htm8. From : Per Christensen (unclegooze@hotmail.com)

Thank you for this valuable web-site. A friend of mine mentioned a while ago that her old Canon house was "kaput" which was a pity, also because of all the nice extra equipment (portrait lenses and so on) which then seemed unusable. By coincidence i recently saw a Canon F1 in a second hand shop, bought it and gave it to her as a present. I now want to print out the manual for her - and my question is whether the camera is a F1n or F1 NEW. Battery is 6 V located at the side of the lens, there is the "handgrip" protruding on right side of the housing for better grip, self timer is mechanical located on front,a diode beside the eyepiece blinks first slow and then fast as self-timing runs out. Manuals for the older F1n and the F1 NEW are available on this nice site. Which manual should i print out?.Thankfull for any help.9. From : Dennis (dennis@oyamaphotography.com)

Terry, the AE Motor Drive FN (if I am not mistaken) is for the New F-1 body (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1n/index.htm) and will not fit on the original F-1 body (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1/index.htm).10. I have an F1 (serial #525701 date code: R206) and an AE Motor Drive FN. The Motor drive seems to have a positioning pin for which the camera body does not have a hole. Is this accessory supposed to be compatible or not? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
