Bart, You can easily see if your F1 old is the first or second model. The second one have a plastic tip on the winder lever, a film memo on the back, and the ASA setting goes to 6400. It's basicly the same camera as the first model. regards, Ketil

I have a question about the three models of F-1. Are the first two models easily distinguishable by sight? I used to own what I think was a New F-1 (third model). On it, you set ISO around the rewind knob, and the film rewind release was on top beside the shutter speed dial. I recently bought an older version, but I'm not sure whether it is the first model or the second. I appreciate any info. I will try to get back to this board, but if you could e-mail me that would be great. Thanks, Bart

Does anyone Know where I can get a manual for a Canon Speedlite 177A? I purchased this flash used and it did not come with a manual. Are there any sites with downloads on this type of information?

The new F-1 does _not_ have mirror lockup. It does have smoother mirror operation than any of the previous Canon cameras but for that last bit for Astrophotography, well... Cheers,

Greetings, I am looking for an F-1 for asrtophotography and was wondering if the newer F-1n has a mirror lock as the older version did? I like the faster ASA/ISO speed of the F-1n but without a mirror lock it won't be a very good choice. Many thanks.

Hello Ian, I have an F-1N that was acting exactly as you describe, I took it for service, and it turned out the shutter needed rebuilding. Fortunately I had purchased the camera with a 4 year warranty, saved me $180.00. I'm ready for the next 20 years. Tom

I have a New (and new to me) F-1 (F-1N) that has a problem.

The best way I can think of to describe it is that the shutter seems "tired". Whenever I shot several pictures in quick secession, the shutter starts to slow down and eventually it won't fire or fires verrry slowly. It's the same with or without the battery installed and the same with any of 2 or 3 different new batteries (Lithium, Alkaline, or Zinc).

I assume that it needs to go in for service but if anyone could shed some light on the cause I'd sure appreciate it.
