I have been a faithful Canon New F-1 user since 1985, and I just discovered this website (rather embarrassing that I'm from Malaysia); it is great to see so many other users. I just thought I should inform everyone that if you watch the movie "Spider-Man" you will see Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) use a Canon New F-1 with AE Finder FN! (The white labelling "Canon" & "F-1" on the camera body is blacked-out, but the light admitting window on the front of the AE finder FN and the projecting finger of the finder to accept the pin on the shutter speed dial are clearly visible.)

Andrew: Here are the adresses to some net-shops that occasionally may have an AE-finder.

BTW, did you know that the automaic aperture Priority metering works well without the AE-finder. The only difference between the AE-finder and the Eye level finder FN is the horisontal scale that shows the shutter speeds when the shutter wheel is set to A. Just try. Set the wheel to A and shoot. You will notice that the camera selcts longer shuttertimes in bad light or if you choose small apeertures. The automatic exposure works, but you will not see the selected spee Any way I envy you your waist level finder. The are very rare. I have been looking for one some time but hav'nt found one yet.

Wanted AE Finder FN.I bought my F-1 with a Waist Level Finder FN, but want to take advantage of Aperture Priority metering. How can I find a source for the Finder?

Hi. Does anybody know where I can get the tree coupling covers, those three metallic pieces at the bottom of the camera? I just bought my F1N and it seems as if the previous owner used it with a power winder and lost the three covers, or forgot to screw them back in.
Thanks, Juan Pablo

Joe, Speedfinder FN image is correct and not reversed in either viewing positions. Same for mechanical F-1 speedfinder. Lindy

Does anyone know if the image in the viewfinder is reversed when using the Speed Finder FN as a waist-level finder? Thanks!

Hi, I have just bought a minty Canon F-1N to upgrade from my Original EF. It looks and feels like it has barely been used both in and out. The only problem is that the meter needle does not move as it should. Most of the time it doesn't even move at all and sometimes it moves but only when it wants to. I have a new battery in it and I have tried changing the speed and f-stops. I have also tried the three metering modes. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I need to clean or do? Help! Thanks,

Pablo
