Hi, I recently obtained an early F1 with motor winder - but I do not have the original camera base plate that is removed when the winder is positioned. Could anyone advise where I might be able to obtain one at a reasonable price? Thanks for your help. KPS

Well I finally did it. I put my beloved Olympic Edition F-1n up on eBay. I would have never guessed that I would have done that. But unfortunately, times change and so do cameras. Does anyone know how many of the 84 Olympic edition cameras were produced? Dave

Terri, If you open the back door of your camera in the film compartment you will see a black ink number stamped there if you take that number to this page: you will find a chart that will decipher the numbers to give you the build date. The FTb was first sold in 1971. Be sure to check out the other gret info on Christians site:

Steve while I appreciate your service to help keep the cameras I use in working condition. As one of the maintainers of this message board, I think this message board is not the place for you to self advertise your business. There are more suitable places for advertisement.

Hello Will, If you still need the Focussing Screen info, have a look at these two pages from the Canon New-F1 World book. Both pages are available from Christian’s website ( Just go to Books published by Canon, 1984 Canon The New F-1 World in English, Pages 32 & 33. A-P-S are the sensitivity patterns: Average, Partial, and Spot metering. Hope this helps, Kind regards Alan
