Hi Mike, I am using a Metz 32Z2 flash on my F1N and I am really happy with this combo. With the SCA 311-adaptor you can also use slow-sync-flash - a feature I would not want to miss. The results (on slide film) are more satisfying than with my T90/300TL which tend to overexposure from time to time. The 32Z2 is compact and strong enough for most situations. For shooting portraits I always use the reflector-screen from Metz to soften the flash. Makes a big difference. Hope that helps, Arno.

I had a Canon F-1N fine-tuned some time ago. It took at least three or four months for it to be repaired by Canon. The reason it took that long (so the camera store owner told me) was that the F-1N is glued together, and that Canon had to send it to a special facility. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Why would they glue a camera together, rather than using screws? Any help would be appreciated.

hi everybody, I am thinking of buying a used F1N body, can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell the camera`s year of manufacture from the serial number ? And does the 300TL flash work on this camera, does it provide automation with the winder attached ? Thanks in advance and thanks to the webmasters for this incredible page

Metz Flashes for Canon F1N: Does anyone have a recommendation on a Metz which works well with this camera? I'm shooting models and portraits right now -- a bit of a jump from landscape photography..need a good reliable Metz system to do field work and am confused over Metz product numbers and vague description in terms of use with a retro-grade camera system..BTW the F1N is certainly one of my favorite cameras of all time .. have a Canon 199A flash, but have never used portable flash; always used a studio flash setup..silly huh? any help is appreciated.
