I wish everyone here a Happy New Year!
This thread must continue, since it is a very long thread about our Canon cameras.

Take care.

I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A CANON F1 (NEW) 153908.

SHUTTER RELEASE FUNCTIONS ON MANUAL WITH THE BATTERY REMOVED

WITH THE BATTERY IN SHUTTER WILL FUNCTION ONCE VIA COCKING BAR THEN AFTER COCKING MANUALLY SUTTER RELEASE DOES NOT FUNCTION AGAIN.

REMOVE BATTERY AND IT WILL FUNCTION MANUALLY. PUT BATTERY BACK IN AND YOU GET ONE SUTTER RELEASE ONLY.

YES I HAVE A NEW BATTERY AND I TESTED IT.

METER MODE: WITH BATTERY IN LIGHT METER FUNCTIONS WITH FILM SPEED DIAL IN “A” POSITION (AE) OR SPEED POSITION (AF). METER MODE “HOLD” FUNCTIONS CORRECTLY.

VIEWFINDER ILLUMINATOR DOES NOT FUNCTION WHEN SET TO LIGHT AND SUTTER BUTTON HALF DEPRESSED.

BATTERY CHECK BUTTON FUNCTIONS CORRECTLY. I CAN READ BATTERY LEVEL AND IT CANCELS CAMERA OPERATION WHILE DEPRESSED.

MOTOR DRIVE DOES NOT HELP. w/o battery functions ok. With battery only get one shutter release then locks up and have to remove the battery again.

any suggested repair shops?

I am trying to find out what year my Canon F1 was born. The ASA goes to 6400 and the battery compartment is located on the front of the body. I have been out of photography for 15 years and am thinking about getting back into it but my F1 is old and it is probably time to make the digital switch. Thanks for your help.

I am a Canon manual focus user and already have 5 Canon manual focus cameras. I am debating whether to pick up a Canon EF that is said to be in "excellent" condition. My question is this, does anyone know of a site(s) that can provide me with some background on the Canon EF...???

Thank you in advance for whatever info./assistance you can provide me with.

In page:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1/html/motordrive/index.htm
of this site (MIR), it says:

"Detailing HOW to USE the Motor Drive MF.(Skipping the Motor drive Unit - As I don't think anyone would buy that in the used market because of its bulky battery supply unit)."

I bought one yesterday (looks like new) for my collection! Can somebody please help me find the instruction manual? Christian Rollinger doesn't seem to have one on online either.

Thanks in advance,

John
