"Hi, I also love the beautiful "New" F1. I bought me five of them at ebay, four with the AE-finder and motor drive. Now I won the auction for a LA-F1 in nearly mint condition. Does one of you know how many of this special issue "LA olympics 1984" were built? And how many of the NewF1 were built? The highest serial number I owned was a little bit over 300000. Unfortunately it was in a worse condition than others of them I own so that I resold it." Probably 8000 LA F-1 bodies made according to Jim Bielieki's batch code data collected over the years. F-1N made it to the 312000 again accordin to Jim B. So we're looking at maybe 220,000 total F-1N including LA issue were made from early 1981 to mid 1992.

I enjoyed reading all the materials int his website. This forum is even better, some of the long unanswered questions are easily available in the archived sections. Thank for the greatness. I will come back periodically to read all the postings here.

Larry try: http://www.canonfd.com/choose.htm for your manual I believe Christian has n=one on his site. Also do you mean you have had no luck finding the manual on ebay of FD lenses as there are currently around 500 canon FD lenses on ebay OR do you mean you get out bid?

I just found this site and I am glad that I did. I have a F1-N that I bought new in the 80's and I have always loved it. It may be like lugging a bowling ball but to me it is worth the trouble.I just had it CLA'd and the meter and shutter speeds were still within tolerance. The mirror foam is deteriorating however and becoming quite sticky. Is new foam still available for it and is it an expensive repair? I also have a 35mm T/S FD lens that I need a manual for. Anyone know where I can download or buy one? FD lenses and accessories are hard to find in my area. Tried Ebay, no luck. Thanks for any help I can get. Larry
