There is a reply on the lens board:- it says ''...

Ref:- I am not sure what do you meant by Not close enough.. basically macro photography is all about magnification ratio. The EF MACRO (100mm f/2.8 AFD/USM) can close focus down to approx. .0.31m approx. 1.0 ft but the impressive part is the Maximum Magnification which offers 1X (1:1). The between subject/lens distance is actually why we are looking for a tele-macro instead of 50mm standard lens rance. Compare to old day of FD which you require a extender to reach 1:1 The EF MAcro is more comfortable to work with. Well, I guess you can use an extender to go beyond 1X life size. "...".

I have a Rebel Ti. The bit that keeps the film back latch under pressure so that the back does not pop open when the latch is touched is not working.

I wish to fix this, or replace the wonky bit. Does anyone know what Canon model shares the same internal film back latch bits, so I can transplant ?

Adrian,

An exposure error of +/- 0.7 stop is unacceptable for the 1N-series cameras. Transparency film demands much more precise exposure than negative film. I assume immediately that you have checked that exposure compensation has not been set either way from zero or that custom function 9 (AEB sequencing) has not been set to cause confusing behaviour. Check also that the DX contacts inside the camera are in a clean, undamaged state.

A heavy fall suffered by an EOS 1N-series camera can result in some cases in internal mirror box distortion (it is more common for the lens to sustain damage than the 1N bodies). In turn, this distortion can manifest as an out of alignment shutter curtain or skewed front-end metering electronics. Other, more problematic faults can occur due to accumulated exposure to the elements, damaged/or bent lens mount pins or internal component failure.

I personally do not accept the theory that "the internal meter was already compensated for the 2/3 of a stop light loss": it does sound like there is a fault at play that needs investigation.

As always in consideration of the specialisation of the 1N-series bodies, I strongly recommend that you have the camera rigorously examined by an authorised Canon service centre technician.

Garyh

I have a canon eos-1n RS. I noticed that my slides are too dark and negatives are too washed out. The camera tech stated that when they hooked it up to a light meter that it was 2/3 of a stop off. When set at 100 ISO f/8 1/500sec. The internal meter was off by 2/3 when it was supposed to be centered. The tech did not know if this had to do with the fixed mirror or if the internal meter was already compensated for the 2/3 of a stop light loss. I can compensate by using EV adjustment in auto mode or setting my iso from 100 to 200 in manual mode but does this sound broken or is it user error

V Wilden: Try the link below it’s not for a manual but have some good information, and look at the very end for a link “A brief instruction manual”

I have been given a Canon EOS 500 without instruction. Is there anywhere I could find out how to use this wonderful camera?
Cheers V. Wilden

I picked up a canon rebel EOS 1000 at a pawn shop. I would like to know what lens are compatible with it. It came with a EF 35-80mm lens. It took great portrait pictures, but I would like to do some outside shots, with much more zoom. Can you help me.
Mike

Peter,
