Patrick: you can use your lens with the macro converter, it will lose infinity focus, of course. However in macro photography autofocus systems may not work properly due to the short subject distance and very narrow depth of field, and Canon itself recommends manual focusing sometimes.

A good help in macrofotography is a finder magnifier, like the old Magnifier S or the useful Angle Finder C that as a built in magnifier. For the F-1 there were finders with a magnifier built-in. Enlarging the focusing area they make focusing much easier. Sometimes is better to use a different focusing screen too. A ring flash with focusing lamps is very useful when the subject gets too dark.

I was very interested by your Canon's pages and I have a question : I love macro-photography and I have a Canon Macro Lens FD 50mm f/3.5 S.S.C., very precious for me. But I am 50 years old now, and my eyes become tired, so the autofocus eos system was very attractive, and I have bought a 300v eos body with EF 28-90mm lens (waiting for better prices in the digital world of reflex cameras). Not bad, but very very very light, if I compare that equipment with my old F1 body. Do you think I can use the Macro Lens Mount Converter FD-EOS with my old FD macro lens and the recent eos 300v ? Of course, I will loose the autofocus facilities, but if I can still use it in a manual mode, with a good delph of field, it would be great.

This is a goos website in the making, I like the idea of compiling all the EOS midrange and entry level models to support the EOS-1 series. Frankly, I am using a Nikon and seldom has a chance to read all about the successes of the Canon EOS system and this site has provided a good clue of how AF technologies has evolved over the years. I think in terms of depth and content, it is even better prepared than the Canon Museum in relation to various models featured in this site. I hope the Canon EOS-1 site will become another main reference site on the web again, as with many other classic SLR cameras that have been featured in this GREAT photographic site - it easily ranks among the BEST ones on the Internet today ! Regards, Cap. Holst.

Hello and greetings from Finland (that's the country that Santaclaus is living). I bought an old camera (Canon EOS 700) two months ago and the manual of the camera was lost. it's an old model (1990) and I did't find the manual. An old friend of mine gave me a link to your pages
(http://mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/eos/eoscamera/EOS700/) and there it was! So I would like to say millions of thanks about keeping that kind of an information in your website. All the best and succesful year 2004, Markku Starmans, Finland
