*** I am purchasing a Canon 1 D Mark IIn digital camera for my wife. I have no knowledge of this stuff. I know, risky buying for someone else, but it is a surprise. She photographs weddings and individuals, mostly. Currently, she uses a Canon Elan II 35mm, with a 28-80mm lens and a 100-300mm lens.
Question 1: Will these lenses work on the Mark II?
Question 2: What additional lenses would be recommended?
Question 3: What additional accessories would be recommended?
Please list the accessories in order of most important.
I really appreciate anyone's assistance.
Thanks...

First of all.... WOW that's a present and a half. Second Unless she's specifically expressed interest in that camera I'd almost suggest getting something a little smaller.
Compared to the elan series the Mark II is huge and heavy, a nice camera but probably over kill. I'd suggest something like an EOS 5D or even a 30D (though I strongly recommend the 5D as it's a full frame DSLR) they will be cheaper and probably more suitable then the Mark II.
Yes all the lenses will work with the new body, though if you get a 30D they won't be the same focal length equivalent as on the film body.
Lenses:
•Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, This is a pretty good all round lens with built in image stabilizer. It is an L-series lense so it won't be cheap. But I know wedding photographers that swear by them.
I'd recommend other's but I don't know what the quality is like of the ones she already has.
Accessories I'd recommend:
•A couple of compact flash cards (picture storage) two 1 or 2 gigabyte cards should be enough to start with, preferably reasonably fast ones (sandisk ultra 2 or faster).
•A decent card reader (fire wire preferably).
•A couple of spare batteries either canon or third party.
•A sturdy tripod (if she doesn't have one already).
•A 580ex or 430ex speedlite flash (which will also work on the film body).
•A BG-E4 (5D) or BG-E2 (30D) vertical grip if you get either the 5D or 30D instead of the Mark II.
Now in conclusion this is just my opinion so others might vary, but I hope it was helpfully and not too confusing.

Hi. I bought a used Canon EOS 700, but the Power Zoom lens doesn't work. The camera works, and takes photos, but the lens will not zoom nor will the autofocus feature work. Am I looking at a bad lens, or could there be something wrong with the camera itself? Thanks for any help you could provide.4. From : Jason (donbother@answer.com)

THAT IS A REAL BARGAIN ! You'd need a standard film back or command back. The film backs for the OS-1N is usable for the older EOS1. I am purchasing a Cannon digital EOS 350d rebel xt.I have a Cannon AF EOS Rebel X film camera with some Cannon zoom AF lenses. Will these lenses work with my new digital camera or am I stuck with using EF lenses only? Will the flash attachment also work with the new digital camera? Thank you, Ted from Las Vegas10. From : alex (alexleong8@yahoo.co.uk) Hi people, I have a canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS lens. I am thinking about adding a canon 1.4x teleconvertor. Anybody use this combination? What are the results like? Thanks for any comments. Ax
***
Using a 1.4x or 2x teleconverter on Canon's EF 70-200 f2.8L with image stabiliser feature is an unorthodox set up but is worth a try. It is speculative as to whether you will lose or retain the IS function, or whether the converter would introduce errors; no colleagues I know use this setup. Note that a 1.4x teleconverter will result in the loss of 1 stop from the effective lens speed. –grh.
