I am not surprised that Canon still doesn't have successor for EOS 1V.

Considering the quality of Canon EOS 1V we all know this camera might survive another 10 years without a change.

What would be your personal add for the progress of EOS 1V ?

Kind regards,
Dmitri

Just a warning to all you Canon users. H Lehmann in Stoke is a recommended Canon repairer. I sent a camera for repair and service to them and having sent it 4 times over a period of 7 months, they never fixed the fault, they damaged the camera 3 times, the third time, they wrecked the shutter and I sent it to Canons workshop in Herts. They found and fixed the fault, replaced the shutter and returned it to me in 5 days. Total cost of the repairs was now over £600 instead of the £220 it should have cost originally. I spoke to lehmanns about the first 2 lots of damage and they did nothing. I wrote to them 3 times about the shutter and extra costs and they just ignored me. I strongly urge any of you with a faulty camera to send it direct to Canon!

I recently received a Power Booster E1 for my 1-v. Everything I've read says the E1 accepts 4 AA batteries and a CR2. And that there is a selector switch that allows you to switch between the AAs and the CR2.

I don't see any way to install a CR2 in the grip. There is what appears to be an on-off switch on the E1.

Is there something I am missing?

Also, I read somewhere that only NiCad rechargeable batteries or regular alkaline batteries may be used due to current or voltage spiking in more modern types of rechargeable batteries.

Does this mean I should not use Eneloop or other types of low self discharge batteries.

Hi all. Hope this finds everyone in good spirits! I have an EOS1 Ds Mk2 (Yes, I know, digital. Sorry!) which has an odd fault which I think it had when I bought it. Just occasionally, when you switch it on, it remains dead. You can change batts or fit the dc adapter and it refuses to switch on. Go back to it a bit later and it will kick into action. Once on, it keeps going. I sent it to an approved Canon repairer and they serviced it and fitted 2 circuit boards and sent it back (£220!). Within a week, same fault back. Returned it and got it back after a week with another board supposedly fitted. Within a week, same fault again. Sent it back for the 3rd time to be phoned and told there's no fault in the camera but the error log was showing a battery fault and a lens fault. Thing is that they could have told me the error log said that the Humber Bridge had just fallen down and I would have no way of knowing whether this is true or not. My lens works perfectly on my other Canons (digi and film) and the battery works fine in another 1Ds. Anyone else had a similar problem with one of these? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Best wishes to all. G.

Trusting that this is the correct place to pose questions I will proceed with my query.
I have been using Canon photgrahic equipment for a large number of years. Started with an EOS 650 and progressed from there. I purchased a Speedlite 430EZ and was quite pleased with it. I had a bad accident and did not use my equipment for many years. I've just recently got it bck out and began using it again. Here, now is my dilema. The 430EZ was left with no batteries in it. When I put fresh batteries in it seemed to fuction just fine. But, when I turned the main switch to the off position it would not turn off. This seems very odd. Any possible answers to this problem would be welcome.
