A while back I posted a question regarding the dreaded "bc" and I thought it was due to my cleaning of the focusing screen. Your moderator was kind enough to provide with a prompt respond and I thank you very much. Update: I subsequently bought a EOS 1N and shelved the EOS 1. Just out of curiosity, months later, I attached the power booster that the 1N came with, to the EOS 1, and the camera displayed the "bc" for a split second, and promptly went to normal mode. It works now, with the regular battery. Thank you for your attention and help.

To Rohit:
Yes, all EF(not EF-S) lenses are backward compatible with all EOS bodies, including your EOS-1000. I owned an EOS-1000F, and I still use it occasionally. It was a best seller during its' day.

I am a student of journalism. I have photojournalism as a paper. I have developed a great interest for photography and so m dad got me a second hand EOS 1000 (we are not allowed to use DSLR in college). I want to know what all lenses can I use with this model and if the new USM lenses (eg: 100-400mm lens) are compatible. I plan to get a DSLR once I start working so I want to buy a good lens for this camera now which I can use for the DSLR later.

Hi there = I'm a new visitor to this site. I currently have the EOS 650 model, which I love, but would like to transition into the digital realm. Can I use my lenses on a digital body?
Also, what model is recommended?
Thanx.

The remote control socket position is an Achilles Heel that literally kicked Canon on the backside when the EOS 1/1N was released, followed again by the EOS 5. It is not the best position for the remote. By association it is not sensible to use the camera hand-held with the remote control attached.

In common with many photographers who have the camera tripod-mounted for most photography, I do not have much of a concern with this as my EOS 1N/5 is mounted on a uni-directional Manfrotto trigger grip and I have no need to manipulate the camera using the right hand side where interference is obvious from the remote control cable. If the camera requires dismounting at all, I use it in the vertical format.

If anything, I do wish the remote control was of a push-in design rather than a screw thread to facilitate quick engagement and removal.

As you say, you are new to the Canon system and I can only suggest that you spend a lot of daily time working with the camera overall and put aside the remote control ergonomics issue and come to view this layout glitch (for want of a better term) as just a minor hiccup in an otherwise very complimentary blending of electronics, forum and function.

I am new to Canon system and I have recently added an EOS1 system. I run to an ergonomics problem when the remote control is attached. The remote control connection point is mid-way of the hand grip. It means my right hand cannot grip/control the camera properly with the remote control protruding out. Does anyone have a better handling method? Thx in advance.

My other camera systems have the remote control connection at well below the right-hand-side area. With camera mounted on tripod, I can make adjustments on the camera position easily with my right hand controlling the camera and use my left hand to tighten the ball head knobs.
