I just got an F4s. I'm very excited about it; they have been scarce (on eBay) recently, so I feel very privileged. I am looking forward to it's arrival. The first two of the SN is 23, so I don't know what mods it has. I'm already planning to add the MF-23 and MB-23 when I can in the future.2. From : Dave (no@no.com)

Hi everyone, I've just got a Nikon f4s camera on ebay. The seller advertised it as perfect condition but when I try it in film advance modes some problems happened. According to the manual. Continuous silent is for times when conditions require a minimum noise. However, when I swiched to this mode, the sound is very strange and even noisier than other mode. I wonder if there is something wrong with the in the transport mechanism ( may be the S2 gear is worn. Anyone has the similar problem? And how to fix it? Your quick answer is highly apprecitated.

Great site, love my F4's, I just got another one this week (November 2006) that is NEW... it has never been used, it was bought and put straight into storage, I fired the shutter for the first time to test it after removing the plastic shutter protection shipping card in the back. I don't know whether to start using it or to sell it off as a collectors item? Serial number in the 5's, so a late model F4. The box says it is an F4E, but it actually has an MB22 pack, I thing the studio specified an MB22 when it was ordered, so I guess the shop that sold the F4 traded in the new MB23. I guess I will keep using my other F4 until I decide what to do with the new one.5. From : Carlos Gracia (carlosgracia2001@yahoo.es)

Hi again all,,,I posted a few years ago about my love affair with my F4s and now F4e. It is still the very best camera I have owned and at the time I was playing with digital cameras a bit and never really gave them a chance. Well,a lot changed since and I now have a D100 with the battery pack grip on it and my F4e is collecting dust more and more these days. The reason isn't that the D100 is better because to be quite frank about it ,it's a toy compared to the F4e ! Having said that it does a remarkable job of taking pictures and not having to use films is time saving and a must for any Pro these days.I don't know any Pro's anywhere that use film . Everyone has a D2x or two and a D100 for backup a laptop with WiFi. Also I mostly shot Kodachrome 64 and where can it be developed now? There's one lab in the states left!! So,,I have learned the new stuff and love my F2s's and F4e just like a old Packard ,,,keep it working perfect and use it on dry sunny days only.!! AND NEVER EVER SELL IT<< 7. They say, "That time comes when ... ." Well, I suppose, for me, you could say "That time has come."
After thirty-five years of enjoying the purchase and use of Nikon cameras, Nikon flashes, Bowens studio lighting, Nikkor and Nikon lens, motor drives, various filters, etc., the time has come for me to "get real" about the notion that I can't take the stuff with me, no matter how much I love it. So, I am preparing to put all my equipment (which is quite a collection, as compared to that a normal person might garner through life) on the auction block.
My four Nikon cameras (F/1974, F3, F4, and EM) form the foundations around which my entire collection is built. Presently, I am photographing all the equipment as best I can to demonstrate the pride I have exercised in keeping my equipment in clean and faultless working condition. I can honestly say: If I were in the market for a nice piece of used equipment I would be unrealistic to think I would find any in better condition than that which I am selling. The collection, as a whole, really is a testament to careful and prideful ownership.
So, given my intentions — to sell my entire collection, I am soliciting advice from those of you, fellow nikonians, who may care to share your knowledge and experience in selling equipment through internet auction. If you feel you know some obscurities of the process that would benefit my selling of the equipment, I would greatly appreciate your sharing that knowledge with me. Maybe more importantly, I want to give potential buyers the kind of information they need to have confidence in my integrity, and the true character and integrity of the equipment they may be interested in purchasing. I would like for each purchaser to be surprised in only one way — that the equipment condition, mechanically and aesthetically, exceeds their expectations.
I look forward to any advice you may choose to share. For you to take the few minutes it will take to share your thoughts will be most kind; and, I assure you I will be most appreciative.
Thank you for taking time to read this posting.

I picked up a "P" screen on the auction a few weeks ago for about $50 including shipping. I like it a lot better than the standard screen. Things snap in and out of focus more clearly and you have a 45-degree split image, too
