Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon F4 Series Professional SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

Nikon F4 - The first F-class professional camera model that offers autofocusing. It was regarded as one of the most versatile F-model of all time as virtually all Nikkor lenses that produced thus far be used EFFECTIVELY with the camera. It was also the first F-class SLR that virtually depends on electronic/barry power all its function. Despite its AF features were beginning to shown some sign of age when compared with many modern Nikon SAF models that kept surfacing; the Nikon F4 still remains a hot favorite among many working pro and serious amateurs. This section is aimed to supplement the content of the Nikon F4 site to address other issues not being addressed in the site and you may also make good use of it to share common knowledge & exchanging experience with the camera. Will my F4 fit in the CF-41 case if it has a MB-21 on it?

Thanks
Steven

The MB-21 shows up once in a while on Ebay. But since they came standard on F4s sold in the states they usually are already attached to a camera. You could also go for the MB-23 which uses rechargable batteries and seems to be more plentiful as a stand alone unit.

I recently purchased a Nikon F4 from ebay for $300. I have found its ergonomics to be much better than what many others who use more modern SLRs (N55, N80, F5, etc.) say it is. For one thing, the weight is no problem for me (however, that doesn't mean everybody) at all. Contrary to how some people say that an F4 is ideal as an exercise weight, I find it very well balanced, rugged, and especially appropriate for taking pictures at longer exposure times than normal. Second, the controls are so well designed that I can already use nearly every feature on it. So I would say that if you want a solid camera with very simple controls that require little adaptation from an F3 or FE (and many others), a Nikon F4 will suit your purposes.

I have some problems with my nikon f4 dp20 finder. I have to remove a small metal that got inside - which may short the exposed wiring in the finder. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

The dealers have been out of the MB-20 for some time and I seriously doubt there are any new ones in the pipeline. I spent a month checking the web and local stores trying to find one. I got mine new in box off ebay and cost me $90. They have been going for anywhere from $70 to $170! Seem to be much sought after as more F4s hit the used market at reasonable prices. If you can get one for less than $100 now it could probably be considered a "good deal." I don't regret what I paid for mine. Makes the F4 a much nicer-sized camera for general shooting.

Mike, B&H Photo www.bhphotovideo.com carries them, but are currently on back-order. They're about $50 new. They didn't list any used ones. Walt
