Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon F4 Series Professional SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

Nikon F4 - The first F-class professional camera model that offers autofocusing. It was regarded as one of the most versatile F-model of all time as virtually all Nikkor lenses that produced thus far be used EFFECTIVELY with the camera. It was also the first F-class SLR that virtually depends on electronic/barry power all its function. Despite its AF features were beginning to shown some sign of age when compared with many modern Nikon SAF models that kept surfacing; the Nikon F4 still remains a hot favorite among many working pro and serious amateurs. This section is aimed to supplement the content of the Nikon F4 site to address other issues not being addressed in the site and you may also make good use of it to share common knowledge & exchanging experience with the camera. Some of the opinion presented within the site was specifically my personal experience and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. Some years ago I was told that work was being done to provide the F4s with a digital back. Given the easy removal of the back cover it sounded possible.Something like the scanning back for the Hasselblad. Could somebody help with info if those efforts were successful? If the conversion works out too expensively I would then have to look at the D70 or D50 to put my lenses back into Digital action. Thanks for any help.JanPaul

Hi, I just bought a Nikon SB25 Speedlight Flash via Ebay, unfortunately there's no instructionbook. Can anyone help me out here? Could I download a PDF-file or something? Many thanks, Eric (Nikon-user since 1977, first Nikkormat FT3, now F50)

I just recently picked up an F4 and bought a sigma 28-200 AF lens for it. I shot two rolls of film with it and it worked perfectly. Today, I picked up the camera, turned it on, looked through the viewer and now none of the inside information is appearing. It does not show my aperature, iso, or metering, it is all blank. I don't know what happened. Can anyone offer any assistance or know of anywhere that would know what happened?

Kim, Turn on the main switch, then open the camera back and insert film (Insert from the bottom of the film cartridge). Pull film leader out to teh right until the red/orange index mark (bottom right at the center strip). Do not insert the film leader beyond the red index mark. Hold the film cartridge and ensure film is properly positioned with no slack. When the camera back is closed, the film is automatically advanced and the number of available exposures is displayed in the LCD panel or just present "frame I" at the LCD (some camera requires you to touch the shutter releaase button before it advances. When film is finishes, it will automatically begin to rewind (until you can feel there is no tension anymore, in some cases, camera will also stop rewinding). NOte: if the LCD shows error or blinking and/or no frame 1, open the back and do the same one more time.

I have just recently obtained a Nikon F401s, and I have never loaded film into a camera like this before. I have no clue how to load it, so help would be appreciated.
