Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon F4 Series Professional SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

Nikon F4 - The first F-class professional camera model that offers autofocusing. It was regarded as one of the most versatile F-model of all time as virtually all Nikkor lenses that produced thus far be used EFFECTIVELY with the camera. It was also the first F-class SLR that virtually depends on electronic/barry power all its function. Despite its AF features were beginning to shown some sign of age when compared with many modern Nikon SAF models that kept surfacing; the Nikon F4 still remains a hot favorite among many working pro and serious amateurs. This section is aimed to supplement the content of the Nikon F4 site to address other issues not being addressed in the site and you may also make good use of it to share common knowledge & exchanging experience with the camera. Using the dimension of the lense to decide which lense to buy is not very practical (why ? because if you can live with the size of a Nikon F4 (even without the MB21/22/23 power pack attached) it is still too big in relation to the lense of mere 1.5"). Well, if you insist, Nikon has a Manual focus Nikkor in pancake size 40mm f/2.8 whcih fits your description and desire. However, a lens should also be flexible enough to covers other scope, for an instance, candid that allows you takes pictures from a distance, so, even if you can live with the pancake Nikkor alone, one day you might be ended up with a few lenses which does not serve your original purpose. Although I share with your idea of wishing there to have a single lense to fit all round purpose, the 35mm format does not pemits this to realize wuch desire. Too bad ...

I need help understanding the following problem(s)and where to go to have it repaired -- (local camera repair has tried 3 times). Problem -- 1) loading film, the film does not advance to #1, stops on #0; 2) taking pictures, the film will rapidly advance 5 or more frames, i.e. after #5 the film advances to #10; 3) at the end of the roll, the film will not automatically rewind. All three problems are random. Thank you for your help.

Hello Guys! Have there been any reliability issues regarding the F4? I ask this, since a friend of mine told me that he had read about some kind of manufacturer's defect that cause the early exit of the F4 from the market. Anyone hear this before, or knows about it? I just acquired one F4, and he kinda knocked me out cold with his comment. Thanks! Jorge

hi! I recently posted about a power problem on my f4... ...well, now I've got another problem. the film transport doesn't work any longer! in the middle of a film it showed the red light. i manually rewinded it and tried a new film... it's still making the winding sound, but doesn't take the film...like if I'd put in the film the wrong way. did anyone face similar problems? thanks stefan
