Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon F4 Series Professional SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

Nikon F4 - The first F-class professional camera model that offers autofocusing. It was regarded as one of the most versatile F-model of all time as virtually all Nikkor lenses that produced thus far be used EFFECTIVELY with the camera. It was also the first F-class SLR that virtually depends on electronic/barry power all its function. Despite its AF features were beginning to shown some sign of age when compared with many modern Nikon SAF models that kept surfacing; the Nikon F4 still remains a hot favorite among many working pro and serious amateurs. This section is aimed to supplement the content of the Nikon F4 site to address other issues not being addressed in the site and you may also make good use of it to share common knowledge & exchanging experience with the camera. I I doubt anyone can repair the LCD panel (if there is, good news to us). Nikon usually will replace the LCD panel as a whole piece.

Hi all, F4 or F90x I have taken photos for 5 years but not took too much (i.e. about 20 rolls a year). I have used my dad's Nikon FM which he bought since '81. Now, I'm planing to buy second hand F4 which cost me about $400 (i not have much fund). Most of photos I take will be on my travels. I do have 2 AF lens and 2 AI lens with me. After I looked at the specification and compare it with F90x. It turns out that F90x has almost feature of F4. I also heard that AF of F4 is not so accurate (isn't it true?). I thought that F4 should have something better than F90x as it is pro's.

Another consideration I should concern is that F4 is very old compare to F90x. Will F4 components such as meter sensor or motors break (as it old). Thank you.

Good Day, I have just recently come across a (hopefully) minor problem with my beloved Nikon F4. After changing a roll of film; the camera will take a shot at what seems to be 1/8th and then just stop working . . . the alert LED starts to flash until the camera shuts down or it is manually turned off. Once turned on again, it will do the same - take a shot at 1/8th ..... I am still in the middle of my research on this problem and wonder if there are any fellows out there that might be able to help. Thank you very much in advance, Dan

Hi, thanks for your answer jwoods Sometimes, my mirror stays open&locked-up while shooting (I can't tell you if the shutter is closed or open during that. Next, I wait a little, re-press shutter release and the camera finishes the photo cycle and forward to next frame. Most of the time, pictures are well exposed. It happens apperently in a randomly way (?) Has anybody had ever to deal with such a ##!ยง?!!!& situation ? My fear is that this problem could not be fixed, because I will never be able to buy me a new one in early times !!

jeanjacquesdebanne: I don't think anyone can help in trying to solve a problem without knowing what is the issue. Can you try to put it in simple English or even in French (because we can use babayfish or Systrans to translate your question) ?? (naturally, if it is something that is out of the basic spec of a Nikon F4, such as 1/500 sec or 3D color matrix fill flash etc. that you have to buy a Nikon F5 or a D2H.. haha..). But if it is a minor issue (such as the hotshoe has loosen etc..) that should be able to fix it. TRY.. oaky ??

GREAT web resource. Each time MIR launched a new photographic website, it is good/big news to us. This site is the BEST site you can find on the Internet today on the Nikon F4. Thank for all the hard work and dedication to continue with your decelopment works. As a Nikon user, I have benefited a lot over the years from MIR and I think we (many of us) appreciate what you have done for us. Have a good day, Mr. Leo. from St. George's, Grenada, Caribbean.
