Emrah, he might asked you to check the viewfinder serial number. as it might help to track the history of the body, if the original owner had not had the DP finder replaced.2. From : Ray Wyatt (yar@easystreet.com)

What do you Professional Photographers think of Zoom lenses? Are they mostly junk? I'm talking about the average AF zooms, not the $1000+ Zooms I would like to get a Zoom for convenience sake, but I don't want to compromise performance (mostly sharpness-wise). Thoughts? Thanks, Ray3. From : Emrah (e.yucelen@tnw.tudelft.nl)

Hi, Last week I bought a F4 from gray market (second hand shop). While i was reading the F4 manual, i noticed that the serial number was erased-scratched. I contacted to shop where i bought. They tried to convice me it wasn't stolen, they also told me they had the camera maintained in Nikon service (in the Netherlands). Then I phoned the service and explained them the situation on the phone. The service man asked me to check serial number which is placed somewhere related to prism. However I have not able to find up to know. If any one of you know where it is written, please explain me how to find it. Regards.4. From : Yong Ma (hilmaaan@yahoo.com)

From my experience it's ok to use NiMH batteries, and keep the setting at LR6. It won't damage the camera. Good luck and please don't sue me if I am wrong :) Guess I'll buy that new F4E for myself and keep it in the box just in case in a decade or two it will worth a fortune :)5. Can anybody help me? I own a Nikon F4 with MB21 battery-pack. Yesterday i installed 6 NiMh batteries instead of the typical 6 LR6 Batteries. Normally (as the NiMh are rechargeable) I think I have to set teh battery-switch to "NiCd" instead of "LR6". I did so, but the battery-check LED's light up both instead of one. Has anyone had already any experience with this?? Can it damage my camera??? Any advice is welcome!!!! Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!! Gert6. From : Jack Stravage (js@247onebox.com)

Do you know the Chinese from mainland China (and Japansese still do) are very much in favour of the Nikon F4 (in particular the F4S) ? They will buy anyhing that is still new with this model, that perhaps explained partly of its scarcity of its existence now.8. From : Yong Ma (hilmaaan@yahoo.com)

I did not say anything about film advance speed. It is about the autofocus speed. I am convinced that my F4 of 244xxxx has slower and less sensitive AF speed than my 219xxxx. Put the same lens, switch each other's power source, even my grandma can easily see the autofocus speed difference between the two bodies.
Anyway, I forget where I read a forum discussing possibility of finding a new/unused F4, I just remember all said it's impossible today to find one. Well, I visited this old camera store last week and there I saw an F4E in box unopened, for sale. Unfortunately the keeper will sell it for a price of an F5. He said I won't find new F4 anywhere else. But I already got two with me. Anyone interested?9. From : J. Neshville (rockerjuniorhigh@hotmail.com)

If what you have noticed on the differing film advance speed is true, then it is a surprise find. Well, nobody could prossibly be owning two F4 with different production date to make such a comparison. However, I hope other related factors remains the same in your test (lens and aperture used, shutter speed (use fixed manual speed) and most importantly, the battery condition) to make such a hearing judgement. Whatever it is, although personally I have some reservation over the claim but I am not entirely write off such possibilities. Yong Ma, you have provided a good input for many of us to think about, ha ha !
By the way, I have learnt to know a special edition of the Nikon F4 somewhere, but could not remember where I have read it, anyway, I will try to check again and see if I can send the article via electronic mail. (well, could be mixing up with the F3LE ?..).10. I have two F4 bodies. My question is, why the one with higher serial number (244xxxx, MB-23 with fresh NiCd battery) has autofocus noticeably slower and less sensitive than the older one (219xxxx, MB-21 with alkaline AA)? I have tried to switch each other's finders, grips, etc. Did Nikon put different AF system to certain F4 models?
