Just came across this site for the FA. I bought mine back in 88 while I was at college. Well the mirror finally gave up the ghost 15 years later. Was a great camera. I tried to have it repaired but was told that they no longer had parts. Anyway I do still have the MD 15 Drive but left the batteries in it by accident I did try and clean the points as best I could. So I don't know if it still works or not. It does need more attention and cleaning. I don't have the FA anymore so I can't test it. Has been sitting collecting dust in my cupboard. If anyone wants it, again I can't guarantee that it works, so I'm giving it away. Let me know!!

I need some help from my fellow FA users. Im looking for a hand grip for my FA. Ive been all over and its not looking good for me to find one. I see a lot of FA's out there with motor drives on them so I know there must be some handgrips out there laying around. Anybody want to sell one? Please e-mail me if interested or know where I might find one . Thanks , rutzats@aol.com

I just purchased an MD15 motor drive and FA body. I was hoping to be able to use the drive to power the FA, but it seems like something is not working properly. I put new batteries in the md15, removed the electronic connections cover from the bottom of the fa, and attached the drive - making sure to align the pins. Nothing happens. The drive is set to S (or C), the red LED lights up when the button is pressed, but the meter doesn't function and the drive doesn't advance the film.
Strangely enough, I can advance the film manually and release the shutter (via the fa). If I then stow the film advance lever, a slight touch on the md15 shutter release advances the film... please remember that I already did that...
Can anyone tell me what this sounds like??? Thanks! Mike

straco, what do you need a manual for? Throw some batteries in and screw it to the bottom of the camera. Set it on "S" for single fire use or "C" for continuous picture taking. "L" is for off and to lock the shutter button. Push the little silver do-hicky down to change the postion of the selection ring. There is an option that can be found that screws into the front of the motorwinder so when you turn the camera sideways you can use your pinky to fire the shutter. With the winder attached to the camera the batteries in the winder power the camera. That's nice when the battery in the camera dies your camera will still function normally. The slide on the lower right is your film release button. Anything else? If so post here or email me. Have fun. George

Q. Should the meter go off and stay off once the winding lever is brought back flush to the body?
A. Yes!!
My thanks to those who responded to my above question after checking their own equipment. My FA is therefore going back to the shop. P.S. It is my absolute favorite manual focus camera, but I recently had to bring it in for service (1st time in its 19 year life) for an intermittant shutter problem. They apparently fixed the shutter, but in the process, the camera now couldn't communicate with the dedicated flash. They fixed that, but now the meter turns on ANYTIME you push the shutter 1/2 way down, even if the shutter is locked by returning the winding lever to the flush position. Not good for the batteries and who knows what else. Sigh, OK, bringing it back to the shop one more time...

Hi everybody, When the film advance lever is flush against the body, in other words, when the shutter release is locked, does the meter come on when you press down on the shutter??? I just got my camera back from repair, and my meter comes on every time I touch the shutter button, even when the film advance is locked - you know, flush against the body. Normal or not???? Many thanks, G Gastman
