Chris (cch185@hotmail.com) - your Vivitar should work fine with the FA. FG and FA has the exact same flash capability/compatibility.

Rajat - I may be able to help you with the answer to this question, since I've done a lot of research on buying a new FA over the last week or so. I paid $350 for a very nice (but not mint) black FA about 2 years ago. Because of the fact that digital cameras are becoming more popular, prices on 35mm cameras and lenses in general have sharply dropped in price. You can probably get an FA in terrific shape for around $250 US these days. It's actually a great time for 35mm camera lovers, since the prices have dropped so low. My first recommendation would be to check out ebay. Other websites to check out are: www.keh.com, or www.bhphotovideo.com, or www.cameta.com.

Hi all. I just thought I'd let you all know that I have a copy of the FA manual now thanks to Steven Gibbs, a member of this message board. Thanks again Steven.

Dear All, I am having some trouble with my FA's meter recently, which seems to be acting rather strange. I will give you an example of what happens on apeture priority mode on a given scene.
f 1.2: 1/1000
f 2.0: 1/2000
f 2.8: 1/1000
f 4.0: 1/500
f 5.6: 1/500
f 8.0: 1/30
f 11 : 1/60
f 16 : 1/30
I am assuming that the camera's meter is shot, and that I will have to have it fixed or replaced. However, if anyone has encountered this trouble before, or is aware of a way to fix it, that would be much appreciated. I would rather not have to buy a new camera body alltogether. My local authorized Nikon repair facility claims that they "may" be able to fix it, but that they would have to check out the camera. Some time ago, I recall reading that the only part that wasn't available from Nikon for the FA was the shutter and the shutter system. True?

I have a familiar request. I have recently acquired a Nikon FA and of course, it didn't have the instruction/user manual with it. It has been a long time since I did much 35mm photography and when I did, I used an ok Pentax K1000 (which has been a fine camera. I've taken a look at the FA and it seems confusing, so the manual would be a lot of help. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of it? Thanks in advance.

Someone selling a Nikon FA at a very reasonble price. On the other hand I have old Nikon lenses (non-AI) that I use with my Nikkormat FTn. Can these lenses be used with the FA?

I have a black Nikon FA with 50mm f1.2 lens and an SB15 flash. I'm about to sell them. :o( Two questions... 1) I've lost the manual for the FA - does anyone have a pdf copy they could email me? (Please!) 2) Does anyone know what would be a fair price to sell my camera for in UK pounds? Great site... it's a shame to discover it as I become an ex-FA owner.

To Jacob Compared to all the gadgetery were surrounded by these days the FA actually doesn't seem very complicated - but it probably did in 1983.It has the depth of field control and seems rather solidly built.

I have a BIG question fellow Nikoners! I own a *mint 1978 F2AS that I love dearly but have decided to stop using for everyday use. (getting to valuable and its getting heavy for me) I would like another body. I like what I have seen when using FE2s and also FAs. I do a lot of photography (people and landscapes) I think an FA is great but the one drawback is that I don't like *complicated cameras thatyou have to fiddle with that break down and are hard to get fixed. Frankly I used a friends little FG lately and thought it was ok (except no depth of field which bothered me) Frankly not sure what I am asking you folks. I am cautious because I don't like switching cameras. As you can tell by my (1978) F2. The disadvantage for me is that I haven't used a lot of different cameras You younger folks have more experience with that I do using these other Nikons I think? Any thoughts? Thanks..and very best regards
