Being fairly new to DSLR's , I have an easy ( I think ) question. What is the difference between FA lenses, F lenses , J, K , etc.? I have a Sigma 28-200mm tele lens and I am wondering if it fits itno any specific lens category
Thanks in advance

I recently bought an FA body but it has a problem. When I wind the film advance lever the lens stops down to whatever aperture is set on the lens aperture ring. It is as if the DOF preview lever is permanently depressed. After the shutter is released, the aperture opens up again. I have also noticed it does not happen if I depress the DOF preview lever prior to winding the film. Any ideas how to solve this problem please?

I 've recently bought a Nikon FA and a AI 50mm 1.4 and a Vivitar 28mm 2.8.
On the program mode(on both lenses) there is the message FEE lit even though i have selected the minimum aperture as stated in the camera manual.
So,is the program mode working properly even though the indication is "FEE"?
Or alternatively should i have to forget about the program mode altogether ?
Is it something wrong with the lenses , their couplings on the camera or is it a camera problem ?
Thanks for your attention and by the way this is wonderful site !
Andreas

so i recently aquired my first FA. i was playing around w/ the auto modes when i came to a problem. while i am in "programed" mode, the shutter sticks open at every speed 15th of a sec. and below. i took it to a repair shop and the owner simply explained that it was "broken". he said, "there are no parts for that problem, i have two FAs doing the same thing."
i live in the bay area(east bay), and i was wondering if anyone has had this problem before. or if anyone knows where i can send my camera to someone who knows.
thanks alot.

I have a Black FA, 1.4/50mm lens in perfect condition - just looked at by a photo professional who installed a new focus grid and cleaned and checked calibration on the camera. I would like to sell it to another FA fan. All offers considered - Carl ah8i@yahoo.com

To Kevin Collins: Sorry, I didn't read your message earlier. The MR3 works fine with the MD15 - I'm using it regularly. I find the MR3 very useful not only when it comes to "vertical" shots but when shooting horizontally as well: I can fire the camera with the tip of my smalles (fifth) right hand finger, thus avoiding any downward pressure onto the camera. By the way: The MD15 is in deed the best drive you can get for your FA. Especially the fact that it caters for all the electricity your camera needs is a very nice feature. The FA/MD15-combination works perfectly even when there is no battery in the camera body itself. On top of that the MD15 is very reliable, beautifully designed and built. And there is even another advantage over the MD12s (which also fit the FA): The FA/MD15 combination will safely stand upright even with somewhat larger lenses attached (whereas the FA/MD12 combination falls onto its nose). Unfortunately the MD15 is not as easy to find in the second hand market as the MD12 is since it only could be used with the FA exclusively. Given that the FA was a breakthrough in terms of technology but a real flop in terms of sales numbers, and given that many FA-users never bought the MD15 it's quite obvious why there aren't that many samples of this fine machine out there. Which is a pity. Enjoy your FA/MD5/MR3-combination! Greetings Werner

I want to get a motor drive for my wonderful FA. The MD-15 is the best choice, but I cannot find out anywhere if the vertical shutter release MR-3 will work on the MD-15. Can someone PLEASE answer this question? It's "driving" me crazy!!!! Kevin C.
