Ron Nathan, As fas as I know, Nikon does not make any digital backs. There may be digital backs for some Nikon bodies some day. See also http://www.dpreview.com/news/0012/00121501efilmagain.asp Best regards, Lars

Great site with a wealth of information. As I am the proud new owner of a "manual-less", FA your site has been very useful. Thanks.

Hello, can you point me in the right direction. I have a FA that I bought new back in 1987. It hadn’t been used all that much and I’ve never had any problems until recently. The LCD won’t display even with new batteries. Also, mysteriously, the film advance lever will not swing out beyond the 30 degree standoff angle to advance the film. And last but not least the shutter will not trip even when in the M250 or B settings. HELP!!! Are these common problems with this model? Is this model worth the trouble and expense to repair? I have most all the accessories except for the motor drive.

john smith, leo has a great compilation of various information on Nikon Flash from older fan-type, SB-1 to SB-22, you can check them through at: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonf3ver2/flash/sb1tosb21/index.htm
One wya or another, any of these flash can be used with your FA via a flash coupler. However, since the FA has a standard ISO-type flash shoe, you can narrow them to those only with the ISO-type flash foot on the flash section. Common ones are the SB-15 and SB-16B and even many newer AF units can also be used and take advantage of the TTL flash capability of the Nikon FA provides.

Hi, as a new Nikon FA user (and new to photography at all) many thanks for those great pages. It is a pity that it is not possible to download the FA manual anymore. Strange kind of marketing they have at Nikon, at least the cameras are great. Is there anyone who could email me a pdf version of the manual (preferable in german, english is ok as well) ? Would be great help for me ! Neednt be the original manual, just anything that I can print out and that tells me all the details about my new camera. Thanks, Sebastian

Jim - both lenses you mention are pre-AI coupled. You will need to have them AI-modified. Read more @ http://www.zi.ku.dk/personal/lhhansen/photo/repair/aimod/aimod.htm
