I recently bought a used Nikon FA in excellent condition. After having it for 2 weeks, the red light in the viewfinder went out, but the metering window seems to be working fine and the exposure on my photos have been fine. I don't have a manual, so I'm not sure what the purpose of that light is and if I should be concerned that it no longer comes on. Thanks Jennifer

Jill, I have a perfectly working FA, sent it for clean, lube and adjust at Nikon Australia and they said that the sound is normal. If you try different modes of P, S, A and M, the sound will be different for 2 modes. Can't remember which one. Regards, Aaron

Jim those batteries are being eatin alive! In my FA the battery lasts, I don't know years? Very long time. I can't say exactly but a VERY long time even without the motordrive attached. It sounds like the camera might not be turning off correctly or at all. Maybe it stays powered up. Does the display go out after a few minutes? Something is cauing the battery to be drained and it's not normal. Best I can do.

I have just acquired an excellent clean Nikon FA. But I noticed that I need to replace the battery almost every three weeks or less even I don't use it that much . Is this common? or maybe I should use a certain type of battery? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. thks

Should a FA shutter sound more like FE2 or FG? I just got a new condition FA that has a shutter sound that reverberates, with a metallic, spring zingy sound after the mirror hits and shutter closes, making it a louder and longer shutter sound than my FE2 or FM2. It sounds more like my FG. I replaced the degraded mirror foam, and that made no difference in the sound. How about others with their FAs?

Go for the SB-16B flash instead... much more powerful and the tilt/rotating option (with dual flash heads) is an awesome combo. It allows for some very creative flash photography combination!

Hi. I just bought a used Nikon FA. Do you think the Nikon SB-20 flash unit would be a good match for this camera? Thanks for your advice.

I have a Nikon FA that cannot be repaired because there are no longer any spare parts for the shutter at any authorised Nikon agent or camera repair shop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Can anyone recommend me a repair shop in Malaysia or in southeast asia that has the spare part?
