Hello. Can anyone tell me what Vivitar 4600 flash module should be used with an FA? I got a DM/N2 module at a garage sale, but I don't want to try it before knowing if it's the right one. It is listed on some sites as being for the F3. What's the right one for the FA? Thanks.

Dear readers, I recentely was fortunate to buy a not so used NIKON FA body, a marvel in itself. Unfortunately the LCD display has reached its end shelf life and is hardly readable. As this is the most vital part of the camera's metering system I need to replace the same. Can anyone suggest where I can find one as they dont produce this anymore. With regards, Ravishankar

Hi all! I have been using a couple of FE's for years & love them, but just aquired an FA (used) off eBay. It will only fire as long as I hold the shutter speed lock button in. Everything else seems A-OK as far as metering, film advance, etc. goes. It doesn't matter if I am in "P", "S", or "A", I still have to hold the shutter speed lock button in. Both of my FE's agree with the exposure choices by the meter of the FA. Is this an easy fix by a good repairman? All replys appreciated!! Thanks!

I bought my FA unit as a backup for my F100. Never had to use it, sofar, as such. I'm shooting chromes with one and prints with the other. Have not noticed any color variations between the two. Am enjoying the heck out of it, also, I recently got a motordrive. The best to all, Jack

Fram: I have been keep on figuring what causes that because I don't own an AF camera but I have some experience with them. In such scenario, a few possibilities may cause both the LEDs to signal. 1) the lens may not be mounted correctly (unlikely); 2) the Program AE mode, you may have set the aperture out of the minimum aperture scale on the lens; 3) you are in out of metering mode, - ALL are operational problem - so, I suggest you go and get a manual, read it through first before attemtpig using an all electronic SLR (esp. your last one was a K-1000 fully mechanical manual SLR). A few search results for your camera:

Karl Rahder: It sounds like the shutter magnet is causing the problem. Anyway, there is nothing can be done now, just use hearing to aid in determining whether the shutter has fired properly. I suspect if it gets colder, it may not be working that efficiently too. Fight til you are back !
