What do they call the part that goes into the eyelet that you attach the camera strap to. Is there a nikon part number for this? I bought an FA and it was not on it... I don't want to take it off my FG, so is there a Nikon part for this?

Dean - the is only one eveready cases specifically for the FA; CF-30. The CF-28 will fit and the CF-28A is a front only for longer lenses). The softer CS-7, CS-8, CS-9, CS-10 and the "fast" CF-6 will also fit.

Steven - I agree it would be nice to have a place where one could look up compatibility. There is http://personalwebs.myriad.net/ahall/nikonint.html but it is not complete. Basically everything compatible with the FM3A (in addition to FM2 and FE(2)) is compatible with FA. Best regards, Lars

Lasse - it sounds like your FA needs some service. If you want to attempt it yourself, I can only recommend that you join the group linked to above.

I need help with a problem with my Nikon FA. I have not used it for a while and recently pulled it from the shelf. I should add that an MD 15 motor drive is attached. I decied to remove the motor drive to make the camera a little more compact but I was unable to activate the metering system or shutter. As you might expect I immediately replaced the battery-polarity correct- but still no metering and the shutter relaese would not operate. I remounted the motor drive and all works fine. Any idea as to the source of my problem and its solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is one of the best cameras I have ever owned and now that I have some time I would like to put it to work again. Thank so much for your anticipated help with my problem.

Dear Lars, & JWoods. Just a quick note of (belated) thanks for your help/advice. This is a great site! A further question: has anyone put together a list of compatible accessories for the FA? Such things as cable syncs for the SB-15, ERCs, shutter releases, screens, etc, etc. I often see items advertised on eBay which 'suggest' they are compatible with my FA but I then have no way of easily checking them out! I'm trying to compile a 'wish-list' of Nikon item nos that complement my FA, for easy reference. I would be pleased to receive any info from anyone. Please feel free to email me. Steven.

hando: The asking price is kinda high. I have just got myself a FA with MD-12 under 230USD. With 559 $ (USD ?) you can have many options such as a new Nikon FM3A (http://mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonfmseries/fm3a/index.htm) with a moderate zoom !

First let me say what a great site this is.Secondly I have three questions about my FA:The ready light in the viewfinder is blinking red whatever type of dedicated flash(Nikon SB-22(does anyone have a pdf of the manual for this one,by the way?) and Metz 54MZ-3) I'm using. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? Also I'm wondering about the button for changing metering modes;when pointing the camera at surfaces with which I should get different readings when changing modes, there's no difference. Is something wrong, and if so,is it fixable?Lastly;what does the button on the backside close to the film plane mark do?This question has been asked in this forum before, and the answer was that it locks the shutter speed dial. This is not the case on my FA,so is there something wrong with my camera,ot was the answer wrong?
Best regards,Lasse Eriksen,Norway
