As stated on the website, the MD-11 will fit on the FA and will operate it. But...I found that if I forget to turn the drive off, it shuts down the camera and won't let it turn on -- even detached from the drive -- for several hours. My camera dealer says the 11 is NOT compatible with the FA, and that I should trade it for an MD-15. I don't want to trade it because I prefer the 11's design. Has anyone else had this experience? Is there a fix for the shutoff problem?

Hi Charles, I think you will find that the small buttom you mention is for locking the shutter speed dial. All the best, Geoff

Does anyone know the purpose of the round button on the back of the FA body? (Almost behind the film plane indicator) I've read through most of the wonderful info on this site but still have not found a purpose for it. Thanks so much!

Serdar, the "illumination windows" are merely transmitting ambient light to the finder LCD and the finder shutter indicatior. Best regards, Lars

I have a request. I own a FA, MD15, FE2, MD11, SB16, SB11, and many manual focus lens. I don't want to replace my camera but would like to be able to shoot some digital. Now Nikon has a digital camera just for that purpose only it's $5,000.00. I emailed them to consider a digital body without autofocus and not a super megapixel unit. Why no autofocus? Because thats the main reason digital camera's eat batteries. My reason to them was there must be 1,000's of manual focus Nikon lens owners in the world who would like a camera body that they could switch their exesiting lens onto.
Imagine Nikon quality lens on a digital body. There is a outfit that does make a digital back for film 35mm camera's but they don't for the FA. So if your interested in a digital body without the big expence Nikon could make one for us if enough people were interested. Are you? If you look at the price of digital camera's today this body kept simp-le as a FA wouldn't be expensive and we could all save the cost of new lens again. Email Nikon and tell them you want an afforadable digital body. Thanks GTF

Hey there, Has anyone out in Nikon FA land had any problems with power loss with the FA. i've had to replace my batteries 3 or 4 time since i got it. I was told by the guy in the store that it could be a matter with the type of batteries i use in it. The other he said it could be an electronic problem. Has anyone had this problem. Regards, Andrew

Hello: #1 I have an FA that I would like to have refreshed and refurbished. I shot some black and white film through it and had a streak in the film. Can anyone please advise me where to send this? I would like reputable while keeping costs down if possible. #2 My daughter-in-law has really caught the shutterbug and I am in search of an old FG or FA for her. Is there anyone on this board that has one that he/she is willing to part with? I would also like an inexpensive zoom lens to go with it if possible. Thanks
