Hi Rahul @ http://www.nikonlinks.com/unklbil/repair.htm there are no serve centres listed for India. You might want to contact some other Nikon representations (find them @ http://www.nikon-image.com/eng/Network/index.html). Best regards,

Hi, I have an FA and would like to know if any of you have a good experience in servicing your Nikon bodies as well as lenses. If so, could you email me details of such service centres in India. Thanks Rahul

Melissa - you might be able to buy one from a repair place - check http://www.nikonlinks.com/unklbil/repair.htm for a list of such. If not the knob for the still available FM2 and possible FM3A might fit. Those should definetely be available as spares.

Tony - no you don#t need a Nikon Speedlight to use flash with your FA - but since FA support TTL OTF flash, I will recommend that you get a Nikon TTL compatiple flash unit. Metz, Vivtar and Sunpak etc. all make such units. The FA has the most simple type of TTL OTF flash control, so there is no need to get a flash unit with extra support for an autofocus camera, unless you have a such or intend to get one soon. Of Nikon's own Speedlights I can highly recommend the SB-15. It is very compact and sufficient in many cases. For years this was the only flash I had. You can even turn it into a sort of macro ringlight by swivelling it and providing the lens with some sort of diffusing collar - for the flash to hit from behind. You get the most out of any flash if you can take it off the camera - to get it away from the lens axis. This can be done using the SC-17 cable. Hello Susannah,
I also have two Nikon FA's amoungst many other Nikon camaras. Neither of my FA's eat batteries or have a weak diode display. Must be the cameras themselves and the circuitry.
Good Luck,
Robert Southwick
Love the FA's.

Hi,
Was wondering, I have two FA's. One of them seems to eat batteries, with and without the drive. The other one's LCD seems very faint....are these common problems? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Susannah

Jeffrey ! I am sorry if my little spelling error ("by" rather than "buy") misled you. What I meant to say was that you could get hold of a body (NOT necesarilly from Nikon), from wihich you could canibalize needed parts (I called this the "donating body") - OR you could perhaps BUY a shutter assembly from Nikon. Best regards, Lars.
