Everytime when I see someone mentioning the XD-7, it was just being referred as the world's first multimode SLR while information on the great XK camera was so scarce that as if Minolta wants to shy away from others. Although I understand these two were great cameras of yesteryears but I don't totally write off them as a perfect used entry cameras. I was changing the film in my X700 and the camera suddenly went dead. I couldn't get the shutter to release or use the film advance lever to load the film. No LED display. Batteries are new. I replaced the new batteries with more new batteries. No luck. Camera acts like it's shut off but it's not. Haven't had trouble before. Has anyone else had this trouble and if so what was the problem?3. From : kenny (dailke@guc.com)

Several pictures including the last roll was shot with a half frame. I think it it the shutter, but I'm not positive. How much would it cost to fix the problem? Anyone have an idea?4. From : Simon Lofting (mountainwoodland@yahoo.com)

hello,
I have an x700 in which the shutter is "capping" the second curtain is sticking leading to virtical shadow bands in the middle of frames. I'm told this is due to a plastic/nylon cog deforming with age and that it must either be replaced or the centre hole enlarged to allow for the 'egg-shape' distortion.
can anyone clue me into which gear-wheel it is and how I get to it?
I would hate to scap this otherwise fine camera.
many thanks

Does anyone know whether the focus screen from a Leica R4 will fit a Minolta Xd7/11? The 2 cameras are very similar and the Leica screens easier to obtain (although expensive). Thanks for any help.
