Everytime when I see someone mentioning the XD-7, it was just being referred as the world's first multimode SLR while information on the great XK camera was so scarce that as if Minolta wants to shy away from others. Although I understand these two were great cameras of yesteryears but I don't totally write off them as a perfect used entry cameras. Hi, I am self taught in manual camera repairs, practised on cheap old "scappers" many of which I have restored and have happy homes now.
My latest is to resstore a brilliant XM during this a very small 6mm x 3mm approx glass mirror was found to be floating around and rattling in the viewfinder AE Cds sort.
I think I've double sidfe sellotaped it back in place but wonder if anyone has expierinced this before. Need to be sure I've got it in the correct place. Also while ABSOLUTELY everything works the B reverts back to 1/100 a sec and will not "hold" while shutter is pressed. Anyone know this ?
Also are the viewing screens shutter shace in the viewfinder always so hard to see ?
Regards Cheers kevin

ello,
I got as a present very old Minolta XD 7. It looks perfectly preserved. I never used SLR film camera before. So I did first film indoors and it turned out great except one photo that had a fat white dimmed stripe across. Then I did second film outdoors and about 6 of 36 photos have such artifacts. I am not experienced with film so please can you tell me what it could be.
I suspected on light leak, but I don't know... Stripes are not all the same. On some photos they are white and on some photos they are red. Also, they are not always on the same place and not identical pattern (although few have the same pattern and then some completely different). I can see on negative that they go also beyond frame (on perforated edges of the film).
It was a bit cold day when I shoot second film. Could it be related with that? Could it be possibly related with battery? I haven't put new batteries since one inside seems to work fine - leds are bright.
Please help! I have no experience with film and I really like this camera. Although old, it makes great photos.
Thanks!

hi, my XD-11's shutter sticks when i try to take a picture, no matter what the shutter speed. i have it on shutter speed priority mode and at 1/125, i press and release the shutter button and it just sticks. it 'unsticks' about 15-20 seconds later, or when i turn the knob to the red 'X'. Anyone knows with it could be? also what is the X mode?
please e-mail me, or contact me on AIM: thepeakellz, or myspace.com/peakellz

I have just sold my Minolta XD7 and have found some spare parts which may prove useful to anyone still using an XD7/XD11.
The parts are :-
Minolta thin camera strap
Plastic eyepiece cover
Several used XD7 focus screens (mostly in good order & including the plain type screen as well as the standard screen)
Minolta/M42 "screw in type" lens adaptor & fitting key (useful for attaching realy old M42/Pentax screw fitting lenses to camera body).
These parts are FREE to whoever emails me first with their address - I was going to sell them on eBay but didn't get round to it. They are all useable and too good to throw away so if anyone is interested let me know. - Keith Holyoake 10. Thanks
