Everytime when I see someone mentioning the XD-7, it was just being referred as the world's first multimode SLR while information on the great XK camera was so scarce that as if Minolta wants to shy away from others. Although I understand these two were great cameras of yesteryears but I don't totally write off them as a perfect used entry cameras. Hi. I recently purchased what was supposed to be a 35mm Minolta, but instead it is actually a 50mm Minolta XG-7. Can anyone tell me if it takes the normal 35mm film? Or is it a special type of film? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.2. From : Kevin Tan (kevin@pagodapictures.com)

When I was a student in school, my first serious 35mm SLR camera was the Minolta SRT-Super otherwise known as SRT-303 in other markets. This made me follow Minolta 35mm SLR developments long after I had migrated to Nikon due to 'Peer Pressure' from friends and fellow professional photographers.I'd like to contribute a few trival/tributes to Minolta's 35mm SLRs here.
1. While your website mentioned that the Minolta X-1/XM-1/XK-1 is scacely mentioned, I'd like to address the most obvious omission on its 'True' status. The Minolta X-1/XM-1/XK-1 Mot version (With a captive non removable 3.5 fps motordrive) is actually the world'd first full system AE 35mm SLR camera introduced to the market, and it precedes the Nikon F-3 by some 4 years. I've always winced whenever I read from elsewhere that the Nikon F-3 is the world's first full system AE 35mm SLR... It is simply not! I never understood why Minolta was so reticent in blowing their trumpets about the X-1/XM-i/XK-1. Right up to the day production ceased on this camera, its built-in technology was never bested by its competitors.
2. Your website also omits to mention that of all the Japanese manufacturers, E Leitz chose Minolta to be their technology partners in 1972 and several Leica R series lenses shared identical lens composition to MD lens then. The technology partnership also resulted in Leica R series cameras being derived from Minolta chassis. Eg. The Leica R-3 was wrought from the Minolta XE-1/7 and the Leica R-4 to 7 were based from the Minolta XD-7/11 chassis. I sincerely applaud the immense effort put into this website and I wish this website more continued success. Kev3. From : Stephen (stephensupple@yahoo.com.au)

I have been trying to find someone good and reliable to attempt to repair my Minolta XD7, as the black leather that covers the camera need to be changed cause its shrunk. Any good references out there? Ray6. From : Manfred (albrecht_lidl@yahoo.de)

I am upping my previous offer to $130 USD for a Minolta XD11/7 in perfect working, fairly good cosmetic condition camera with at least one fairly good lens. Please contact my new email address michaelsalley@bellsouth.net with any information. Ebay is not really a good option for me, and I would love to get a camera through channels such as this.8.
