Everytime when I see someone mentioning the XD-7, it was just being referred as the world's first multimode SLR while information on the great XK camera was so scarce that as if Minolta wants to shy away from others. Although I understand these two were great cameras of yesteryears but I don't totally write off them as a perfect used entry cameras. I recently purchased an XD11 at an auction. I am a green rookie (first SLR camera) and just learning about the camera and photography. My neighbor has an SrT201 and is selling her camera and lenses. My question is will Vivitar SR lens series lenses work on the XD11? Thanks. Eileen3. From : Ben (thebenjamins22@aol.com)

According to the specification page: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/minoltaxd711/htmls/spec.htm
The XD-7 uses a commonly available two 1.5v alkaline-manganese or silver-oxide cells. Frankly, I doubt the mercury cells are the compatible types. Sorry if I am wrong. Further, I thnk you shuld also open the battery compartment abd check if the contacts inside are corroded. If there are light deposits, use a rough pensil eraser to rub it off, pull the springs up a little to ensure proper contact when the power cells are installed.5. Hello Lisa, try finding a new battery (probably of the 'mercury-air'-type) and when this doesn't work a second hand camera repair shop to repair the light-meter. This might be expensive. You can check Ebay to see what a replacement camera will cost and make your choice.6. From : Lisa (lisa8754@hotmail.com)

I have an XD 11. I love this camera, i've been using since i started photography in 9th grade (which was only 2 years ago...) Anyway, i really dont want to buy another camera, i'm so used to using this one, and plus i'm a teenager so you can pretty much figure out that i dont have the ca$h. The problem is with the light meter- it doesnt respond at all, it just simply does not work. everything i take is absurdely underexposed. it took me awhile to figure this out- about 3 or 4 rolls ruined. i was developing a lot of these on my own so i figured i was just screwing up with the chemicals. But then i brought them to a store and there was nothing on the roll- and i know i took the whole roll- it was just gray. the whole entire roll, even the edges where you can usually see the frames. i am sooo upset and i really want to get back into photography. does anyone have any idea how i can fix this? the camera was my mothers, it's about 30 years old, so i cant really just go to a store and as them to fix it for me. Minolta doesnt even list the XD 11 as a choice for their film camera models anymore. thanks a lot. ~~Lisa7. From : richard mc mullen (rchmcmullen@aol.com)

hi out there! I am looking for a battery cover for a 1970 vintage minolta srt 101 35 mm camera. Someone must have taken same part and I cannot hold the battery in place without it. If anyone has one I would be glad to purchase it. Thanks!8. From : Gautier (blaireaude@yahoo.de)

Re: Minolta XG-7 instruction manual Hello Laura, This time your mother bought something decent. There are plenty of Minolta instruction manuals available free of charge, to be downloaded, on the Internet. Why not try entering the phrase "Minolta Instruction Manuals" on a search engine like Google? I wish you and your mother the best of luck. If your mother gets bored of the camera, you might try it yourself. Yours, Gautier9. From : Laura (landerson@integraonline.com)
