Responding to Art Ericsson: I had the same problem with mine. Turns out there was just a bit of crud inside the screw-in battery retaining cap that prevented the meter from being properly grounded. I scraped it off and it worked fine. Hope your problem is as simple as that.

Hi! I've just "inherited" from a friend a pristine XD7 with lots of accesories. I've noticed the camera meter sometimes gets stuck in the overexposure led position, failing to "meter" the light even if you change the aperture, the mode or whatever. You shoot two or three times and the camera starts "metering" again. It does this randomly. Any idea? Is it a common problem? I'll send it to service it to my Minolta workshop after the holidays. Thanks in advance.

Laura: what you're seeing is a cover that blocks the viewfinder, to keep strong backlight from entering the camera. It's for arcane applications; I've had my XD-11 for over 20 years and haven't had to use it. If you haven't figured it out already, just flip the little lever, that's just left of the viewfinder, clockwise. The cover will click out of the way. If you didn't get a manual with your camera, a Google search might lead you to one in PDF format online.

Hi, I just got an XD11 for Christmas, but can't see through the viewfinder (even with the lens off)...it looks like there is a black paper with a white dot covering it.. Any suggestions on how I can make it so I can see through the viewfinder? Thank you, Laura lschalk@pdx.edu

I have a XD11. I purchased the camera in Germany 25 years ago. About 5 years ago it started to get sluggish (rewind was stiff, advance was stiff, shutter not working properly etc.). I took the camera to my local camera shop (Wolfe's) and had them check it out. When I picked it up they told me it only needed cleaning and lube. My camera works as well now as it did when I first bought it 25 years ago.

Hi! Anyone out there able to provide an eMail address for a reputable XK parts supplier? I have two XKs I purchased in 70's but have misplaced the the bayonet/screw-in battery covers for both. 101 and 102 covers do not fit. Any info as to who might have these in stock would be most appreciated. Best 2003 Holiday Wishes, Bob M

I am looking for an eye-level viewfinder for an XM, preferably the model that includes the TTL meter, but, failing that I don't mind having the plain finder.

Minolta XM repair issue: I am having Minoltas now for about 20 year (xd7, xd5, srts), and recently I found an XM. It works partially – at shutter speeds slower than 1/60 the mirror stays up, and only releases after putting the battery out… Do you know somebody, who could help me fixing tis problem? In Austria the Minolta people and other camera repair companies refused (probably lack of experience and parts) to work on the xm. Thank you in advance, Salzburg Austria
