Everytime when I see someone mentioning the XD-7, it was just being referred as the world's first multimode SLR while information on the great XK camera was so scarce that as if Minolta wants to shy away from others. Although I understand these two were great cameras of yesteryears but I don't totally write off them as a perfect used entry cameras. Hello, I am enjoying your site very much. I have a Minolta XD-11 with a 50mm kit lens that I got in the mid 70's.
I also have a 40-80mm minolta lens that I got shortly after. I loved my camera and took it everywhere with me. The 40-80mm lens has a manual focus dial on the left side that is adjusted with a rotating lever and this
was my main lens. After time I put the camera away and completely forgot about it. I am going to clean it up and hopefully take it on vacation this year. I was going to get a new Digital SLR but the Minolta XD-11
still looks good, what do you think? Thanks for the information.6. From : Tina (hpyhrtnsol@cox.net)

I have just received a Minolta Maxxum 7000 and cant get it to load the film. A camera isnt any good without it eh? If I turn the camera to the ON position, I can start to focus (autofocus) but then it freezes up and wont do anything else until I turn it off again. But my main issue is it not taking the film. Anyone have any idea of what the problem might be? Thanks, T7. From : Arturo (arturo.e,castro@gmail.com)

Hi, I just want to say thank you. I've bought the camera (XD-7) one month ago, but I don't remember anything of what the seller told me about how to use it. This is my second search of information and as I read it will be very useful to me (a totally newbie in phothography)
Thanks a lot and I expect I can contribute with some translation to spanish later.

I was wondering if anybody knows what the manufactures suggested retail price was for the Minolta maxxum 7000, or a website that I could look it up at? Thanks in advance.9. From : Sean (serron@bestdyn.org)

“I was changing the film in my X700 and the camera suddenly went dead. I couldn't get the shutter to release or use the film advance lever to load the film. No LED display. Batteries are new. I replaced the new batteries with more new batteries. No luck. Camera acts like it's shut off but it's not. Haven't had trouble before. Has anyone else had this trouble and if so what was the problem?â€
The X-700 and its related Minolta SLR cousins were consumer-level 35mm cameras, and were never built to last 20-30 years. The X-700 was fitted with inexpensive electrolytic capacitors that have a limited service life and often begin to leak and fail after several years and must be cut out and replaced, some ebay sellers offer these. When the capacitors leak over the printed circuit board (PCB) the board must be cleaned as well, and sometimes replaced (PCBs and other X-700 parts became unavailable years ago). Also, the X-700’s film advance and transport uses more plastic than other competitive cameras of the era, even the film rewind arm is plastic. Plastic gets old, brittle and breaks. Another problem is the cloth shutter curtains. Some later X-700s built in China seem to suffer from occasional detached shutter curtains due to adhesive failure. HTH, Sean

i had one of the x700,s nearly twenty years ago. i dropped it down two flights of stairs, luckily it survived perfectly apart from scratches and a dent, i was on a real budget so couldnt afford to have it fixed /had it broken, but it soldiered on for another ten years untill an unfortunate boating accident!..so i went auto focus..no real gain. so seen another x700 on ebay, mint, i had to have it,just waiting on delivery.has anyone heard or seen any minolta 24-35 lenses.my favourite all time landscape zoom lens, bar none.
