I recently aquired an XD-11 from my dad. It came with the original 58mm lens. I have been looking at several manual zoom lenses. One in particular is a Sigma 75-300mm F4-5.6 lens. My question is. Will this camera be able to work in in all settings of the camera ( shutter and aperture preferred and program mode)? I'd appreciate anyone fimilar with this camera and lens sending me any information that will help me. Martin

Hi, I have had the XD7 ever since the early eighties which I have just put up for sale at the FTZ. The reason is that I have two of these so one has to go. I also have the original manual for this camera which I am willing to photocopy if you need one. Just drop me an email. Regards.

Re: Minolta XD-7 Hello Mr. Narr in answer to your question regarding MInolta XD-7, I found the following information in the book by Josef Scheibel, "Minolta XG-XD", Heering-Verlag, München, 1982:

Alles klar?. I have supplemented the information from the book with other information which I took from an old Minolta brochure - about twenty years old (in parentheses). Since I assume, from your E-mail address, that you are German, I have taken the liberty of quoting this information in German. Please, don't anyone else feel left out. If anyone else should want/need a translation, I'll provide one.
Somewhere else, I seem to recall having read that the top plate of the XD-5 is made of plastic. I don't know, I've never had one in my hand. I've got an XD-7 myself, a black one at that, and I can vouch for the fact that its top-plate is metal.

I assume that you would have found this information yourself had you persevered. My real reason for answering your inquiry is that I want to tell you that you are quite lucky to still possess a Minolta SRT-100x. I had one myself, but I lost it through an unfortunate accident almost exactly 20 years ago. It was the first really good camera I ever had. I could eat my heart out to have that camera again. As a replacement, I bought the XD-7, which has given me excellent service to this day, without ever needing a repair. As a second body, I bought an X-300 (the older one, which still used a lot of metal in its construction) about twelve years ago. The top-plate of the X-300 is chrome-plated plastic, but one doesn't really notice this in use. The X-300 is a good, serviceable camera. I recently purchased both a 132x electronic flash and a Minolta 135mm, f2.8 telephoto - both used, but in excellent condition. I'm looking for a third body, probably an XE or an XG-M, but I would purchase one from the SRT-series if a decent one turned up. I have every intention of continuing with the Minolta-system as long as possible - for the forseeable future. What are you doing about the batteries for the SRt-100x? - the 1.35 volt PX625 batteries are, to to best of my knowledge, no longer available. Yours, Gautier
