Everytime when I see someone mentioning the XD-7, it was just being referred as the world's first multimode SLR while information on the great XK camera was so scarce that as if Minolta wants to shy away from others. Although I understand these two were great cameras of yesteryears but I don't totally write off them as a perfect used entry cameras. 've used Minolta cameras since 1977. Bought my XD11 in 1984. Used it to record many adventures until I entered the digital age in 2004.
My best friend died in '05 and left me his XK.
Recently decided to try using film again. I put batteries into the XD11, and behold, it worked, so I used it to shoot some fireworks.
The XK I recieved from my friend's estate works as well.. I'm going to get a new battery for it shortly. It sort of feels good to make some decisions about my pictures again, instead of relying on a computer.

I have a XK that works fine in auto, but when the shutter is set to a say 1 second the shutter stays open for 2 seconds. This doubling of time open seems to be constant through all manual settings, it has a new set of batteries reading 3.182 volts. Any suggestions would be helpful.4. The mirror usually locks up because the battery power is low. If you let it sit locked up for some time, it may get stuck mechanically due to stickiness of the gasketing, but light pressure downward will unlock it.10.
