I have a F2AS in good working order, the meter works accurately.

Recently got a DS-12 EE Unit, with working battery and charger. Battery check lights OK, and powering the meter with correct metering in Manual mode.

But in Auto mode (single and continous), the EE unit can only turn the aperture to it's max (smallest number) and nothing else. It does not respon to changes in the light level, or shutter speed.

For example, the correct exposure should be ASA400, F5.6, 1/30sec, but when setting the aperture to F16 and engage in A mode, it will turn the aperture all the way to F1.4 and stop. In the viewfinder, I can see the meter respons as (@F16) "--", "--", "O-", "O", "+O", "+", "+", "+" (@F1.4)

Obviously it seems the EE unit is faulty; but still hope that it's just my poor operation -- of course I've tried following the instructions on this site, but the same result.

Anyone has any experience on it?

The basic body for F2 are the same EXCEPT the model is differentiate via the FINDER prism type.

Can an expert out there tell me which DS-EE unit will work with my 3 Nikon F2As 2 with DP11s and 1 with DP1[ I'm not really bothered about the DP-1 F2 as I dedicate it with a PC 28mm],but certainly F2a with DP11.
I've read lots of material and studied the e-bay ads for DS-EEs and found nothing conclusive as to the correct model to model usage.
Comments welcome.
Look forward to a definitive response.

Yes, you can use F3 screens in the F2. Just point the lip towards the lens mount instead of towards the back.

Hi Lance & Nick,

If you cannot see the meter, shutter speed and aperture values through the viewfinder, then the internal mirror angle is incorrect or even the mirror has fallen off. You can check/adjust the mirror by removing the base - undo 8 screws.
