Chrishantha: The F2 has a built-in switch that stops the flash from firing at shutter speed 1/125 sec. And higher, from your description this is working the opposite your local repair shop should be able to take care of this for you, if not you can send it to me for a free estimate. Winston2. Hi everybody, I have a Nikon F2 SB and there seems to be a small problem with the flash synchronization. The flashgun does not work with the shutter speeds from 1 sec to .80 sec but it works with 125 and over. Does anybody have an idea what might be the problem with the camera? I tried it with the flash coupler and via cable but without success. Thanks in advance, Chrishantha3. From : Jim (jfjimmar@yahoo.com)

I have a Nikon F2SB camera and also the Nikon F2S Photomic Instruction Manual that came with it. I would gladly make copies of the manual, in limited quantity, and send them to those in need of it. As a note I have had my camera since 1978 and although I use it only for casual use it has never been repaired and still produces absolutely great photos. I recently purchased the Nikon SB-30 Speedlight and it also required the purchase of the Nikon AS1 coupler to attach the Speedlight to the camera. Also, "lock down" feature of Speedlight does not work with the AS1 coupler but chances of Speedlight falling off are nil due to an extremely "tight" seating on AS1 coupler. Thanks, Jim4. I have a nice 1973 black F2. What is the proper motor-drive for this model year? I have both an MD-1 and a MD-2 and both have the early style MB-1 with the analog style battery check. I know the MD-2 was introduced about 2 years into the F2, so can both models of the drive be "correct" from a collectors point of view? This F2 does have the Dp-2 finder which I'm sure was avaliable for the 1973 model year. Any help is always appreciated as this is my 1st time on this board. Cheers, Roland.7. Hey, recently i stumbled on my father's Nikon F2 and was planning on to use it, but the frame counter seems broken or not working, although a minor problem is there a way to fix it by myself? cause i like to have things in tip top shape. How do i test my shutter speeds? And finally, what glue and tool should i use to put my light baffles in place? Is it ok to use mousepad material? Thanks for listening and might i suggest:*** put up a repair webpage, and a newbie webpage, and even better, some better forums with a search function..10. ODDBALL F2. Serial # 7121773 purchased new in 1974 in a sealed box (DE-1 model) and has never required service, it has only been checked (at Nikon Clinics when free shutter check was offered). Here is the oddball feature, the mirror lockup does NOT require that the Depth of Field button be pushed in, all you have to do is turn the lockup lever, the lens stop lever down cams in as the mirror goes up. I had read once that there was a Questar model F2 with this type of lockup feature but the source stated that the depth of field button was enlarged, mine has the standard button. My other 2 F2's are normal, you have to push the button all the way in before turning the mirror lockup. The advantage is that with a motor mounted it is very easy to lock the mirror up, on the standard cameras it is a challenge to push the button and find room for a finger to turn the lockup lever, especially with the MD-3.
I know about the Questar spec. model F, my questions are about the F2, the article that I read was a short announcement in (I think) Modern Photography in the mid 70's. The purpose of the modification was to make it easy to lock the mirror up with the Questar lens mounted, apparently the back of the lens was large enough that you had to dismount the lens to lock the mirror up on a standard F2. Questions (responses may be sent to my email). Does anyone have direct experience with a Questar specification F2? Does the F2-Q have an enlarged depth of field button? Do I have an F2-Q with standard external parts or was it a manufacturing error where a lock pin was left out?
