Hi, First of all: "chapeau bas!" for your great site.
I've just replaced my stolen f2 photomic by a f2A photomic. It works very well but the foam which is under the focusing screen has gone off. I'm afraid that the mirror breaks when shooting at high speeds. I would like to know if this foam must be replaced ans if this operation is still available. (i leave in paris, france). thanks a lot. You may be interested to see the new Nikon owners Club International website at http://www.nikonownersclub.com. Work is in progress for an archive of all early Nikon user manuals for download in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format. It's a strong club and well worth taking a look. best, Andrew3. I just received my first F2. It is a F2 Photomic AS with DP-11 finder. It is gorgeous !!!!! The serial number is 7790872 Does this mean it was manufactured in 1972 ?
Do you know where I can obtain a good instructional manual ?? thanks, Stuart Babcock5. From : Gil Zilberstein (gzilbers@seq.org)

I am the happy owner of a black F-2. I would describe it's condition as cosmetically "lived-in", but photographically perfectly functional, which is fine by me. I want to USE it, not "collect" it. One mystery though, the rewind knob has a myserious marking: an "E.P." inside a diamond shape. What on earth does this mean ? To add to the mystery, I recently noticed that another of my cameras has the SAME strange marking, (and it has nothing to do with the Nikon F-2 that I know of): It's a Ricoh "five-one-nine", the old rangefinder camera with the unusual bottom-mounted film advance lever. The bottom-mounted film advance lever has that same marking on the bottom of the camera ! ! Does anyone know what this marking means ? ? ? My curiousity and I thank you very much if you can solve this mystery ! !
Sincerely yours, Gil6. From : V.Brooklyn (nymen_2001@yahoo.com)

My last impression of the Nikon F2 is something like a tank-liked structure that actually can take great pictures - provide you know how to make good use of it. It has slowly developed as a collector camera rather than an imaging tool now. I missed my F2SB which I have disposed it during the early eighties. This website s hevenly gift as far as older camera information is concerned. Simply, GREAT. Wish to see how the newer AF SLR bodies being reviewed.7. From : Damon Bullock (Brooksbullock@yahoo.com)

I just acquired a MD-1 with an MB-1 battery pack for my F2. Everything seems to work properly, except that I can't figure out what the tiny red button on the MB-1 is for. It's on the right side of hte battery pack just above a label that says "check."
I assumed at first that you pushed the button to check the battery level. However, the battery level gauge above the button is always "on"...that is,with new batteries in the pack, the gauge stays in the green. When I push the little red button, nothing happens at all. Is the battery level portion of this broken? Should the gauge be "on" all the time? Will it deplete the batteries?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.9. From : Herb Bauer (herb.bauer@attglobal.net)

Hi everyone,
to get the old fuzzy quality, I'd like to mount an old 50mm screwmount Leica lens (39mm thread) onto my Nikon F2 body. I'm not sure which Rangefinder Adapter Ring would work for this. Does anybody know, and/or know how to get one?
Best regards,
