The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. MC Lau called the new F2 section the " very last link in the Nikon series of manual focus modern classics." This conclusion could however be wonderfully premature. Next month the FM3A is supposed to hit the streets (not litterally that is - but even if so, it should still work .... ;-). It will be incorporating "modern" features such as an electronic shutter and OTF TTL flash metering, but it will employ a mechanical shutter option as well. Its predecesor the FM2 is surely a classic and it seems indispensible that it will take over this role. The mechanical era is not over yet! I too am of a generation that missed the F2 - by coming too late. But there are still plenty F2's going strong and I cannot keep from admiring this camera. I will eventually get one, I think.

Other than support issue; I would think most of us (depends on age groups) have missed the generation of mechanical camera era during the seventies. I think that is essentially explained why there are more Nikon FM2 users than the Nikon F2. After getting so used to the Nikon F3 style of operation, I even had problem removing the viewfinder when I first handled a Nikon F2AS - that probably can summarize and tells why Nikon F3 has eventually replacing the F2 during the '80. However, these tough F2 cameras were undoubtedly the king pin during their time and remains as fine classic collectibles. Some of the rarer models have been appreciating in its value steadily over the years and it is quite difficult to locate a mint unit with a "fair retail price". But I agree with many others who have signed on this guestbook - this is indeed a GREAT WEBSITE - I think probably there will never be another Nikon F2 site comparable to the scale and awesome amount of information which has been carefully chosen and compiled inside here, Hats off to all of you !

My first SLR was a Nikon FM. That was late in 1970 where I could still recalled the Nikon F2 was very expensive (to me...) but a mean beast for working professionals. It has a lot of nice advertisements in photo magazines and even in many of the issues of National Geographic etc. I have to admit I knew very little about the camera and the only experience I had was a Nikon F2 Photomic which was given to me for just a few months by my uncle but he has decided to get it back and disposed off in exchange for some cash later. I have not able to help very much during the development stage of this site and I have insisted to exclude me from the credit section (Which Leonard has always generously included my name but I felt too guilty and have insisted that to be removed). Anyway, this GREAT site has broaden my knowledge where it relates to this supposedly great mechanical camera. It was such a joy to see truly useful resources make avalable to general public like us. Both the Nikon F, Nikon F2 and Nikon F3 sites featured here in this Malaysia Site have become a major reference center for Nikon SLR camera information now. I wish I could express my BEST of compliments to ALL of YOU who have helped Leonard to make all these possible ! Cheers ! -JWoods-

Like the whole Nikon site in MIR, it is informative and a no nonsense way if you looking for information about SLRs from Nikon.

It was good, it still is and it always be that way. So, what else should I say. I think no more words are needed.

Imagine our world without photographs and the impact that would have. It would be a pretty boring place to say the least. Even though my contribution has been small by comparison I have spent a considerable amount of time acquiring permission for use of some of the images used in this site from here in the U.S. along with obtaining a technical reference manual for the creator.

It seems like this site has been under construction forever and that at times appeared to be jeopardy of being completed. Now that it has gone live I think that everyone will find that this truly is the most comprehensive F2 site on the net.

The Internet is a better place because of contributions like this one. Lets just hope that it continues to be that way. It truly has brought people together from all walks of life and the far corners of the world in a positive manner.

Even though it may not perfect this body of work has taken more research and time than one could imagine. I hope that everyone who visits this site finds it useful. Enjoy your visit ----- Chuck Hester, Arizona -

Just to let you have a rough idea of how tedious the work involved just to enable the "Preview Site" to go "Live": I have spent more than 50 hours in the past one week helped to edit the hundreds of html pages in this MEGA-SCALE Nikon F2 site. It was done over the week end and, during the working days, in the evening after my day job. As expected, fatigue set in during the editing process, and I am sure there are more mistakes, typo errors, which I failed to notice and probably have introduced some mistakes of my own. I shall be pleased if you could help us to clean up this preview site, by informing us any errors, and typo that you have come across during your visit. It had been a very tiresome assignment (I have to bring along my old spectacle, eyedrops....), and it is by no mean over yet, as we are still checking the linkages, and hopefully to add more pictures to the pages in order to make the pages visually more interesting.

ON BEHALF of all the people involved in making this site possible: I do hope you will enjoy these pages, as we are very pleased to present the very last link in the Nikon series of manual focus modern classics. We hope this pages will be helpful to some one out there, wherever you may be, and helping photographers is the prime objective of this site "Photography in Malaysia". As a non-commercial hobby site, we are extremely pleased that we are what we are today, albeit with some regrets and reservations. We are sorry that we are not perfect, and also that we are unable to please everybody. Within the limited resources that we have, we hope this Malaysian site had contributed, in a small way, to promote photography through the cyber space. Lastly, you are most welcome to make use of this message board as a forum to discuss, and to exchange know how and information related to the F2 camera for the benefit of all. Do enjoy yourself. Thank you!

Welcome To Nikon F2 Guestbook Messages. This is a new experimental Message Board which also will be used to substitute other cameras' Message Board using older MSQL in Photography Malaysia. It may not be perfect , and to satisfy all of your needs but at least I have create a specific Search Function which Leonard told me it is of critical important when the database grows BIG in size. Anyway, just enjoy what you are seeing right now and I will try to improve it with more viable features later. Thank You, Cheers !. - Rizal -
