Remove "nospam" from email address to use. I've just sold a Nikon F2A to a buyer in Canada. I locked up the mirror for shipping so it wouldn't be able to slam back and forth in the event of turbulence or rough handling. The mirror lockup has always worked perfectly and worked fine when I sent it. When the camera arrived the mirror was still locked up in the proper position, and the buyer depressed the shutter to drop the mirror back down. That worked, but now he says he can't get the mirror to lock up again, that it is only going up about 90% and just won't lock tight up against the finder. I confirmed that he is turning the lever counterclockwise as far as it will go until it catches the detent. Does anyone have a guess as to what has happened here? Are there any simple things to try before getting a repair estimate? Thank you, Tim Fields

A freind gave me a dirty, unkept camera a few years ago. The shutter was locked-up and was in need of new felt. After cleaning and working with it for awhile it looked brand new and has worked great ever since. I didn't realize until lately what a treasure I had been given. I have researched this camera before but have not found the actual site that included my camera. Until now.Your site has given me a new dimension in photography. I was guessing about what buttons to push. Now I can push the right ones.Thank-You....Al3. From : Britt Stokes (brittstokes@yahoo.com)

Hi, I have a Nikon 25th Anniversary F2A and am wondering what a current value for the camera might be. It is in near mint condition, but it has been used previous to my owning it. I had it cleaned/lubed/adjusted and new mirror foam installed recently. The meter is accurate and functional. Any ideas or suggestions about the value would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Britt Stokes4. From : leofoo (leofoo@mir.com.my)

Five new images of the Nikon MD-1 motor drive unit contributed by Mr. "Tor Lemhag" of Sweden, have been uploaded at: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonf2/motordrives/md1/index.htm
Once again, sincerely thankful for such positive contribution which aims to improve its content. Cheers.5. From : David (pathbrae@madasafish.com)

F2 Batteries
The battery in my F2 recently gave up the ghost on a trip - the only spare I had was a 3v Lithium cell for my F3. I have read about the F2 needing to use two silver cell batteries (or even zinc - air cells) so I didn't expect the meter to be correct but, comparing it stop for stop with the F3, it seems to be spot on. Anyone know of any reason not to use a lithium cell in the F2?
David

Chip: That should be an easy fix for a “moderately handy guy like you” Take a look at my web page, and look at the link for mirror foam and light seals. When you clean off the old stuff make sure that you keep it off of the mirror, No need to recalibrate any thing. Please note that they sell the foam in sheets and you cut it to the size you need. Good luck, Winston
