Most camera collectors would regard Nikon F2 bodies between 1978 and 1980 as the BEST produced bodies among all standard F2 camera bodies (Reasons ? More leaning towards psychological rather than physical..., at least the premium on those bodies reflect that kind of thoughts). Anyway, you cannot stop anyone who has owned a "previous" version of the F2 (like owners of F2 Photomic or F2S..) to get a DP-12 simply because the metering capability and AI feature of the DP-12 Photomic Metered Finder is far more attractive. So that may also explained WHY your F2AS may has a 1973 camera body and thus, you can't simply demands others to refund by concluding the shop is cheating you..2. I have been pursuaded to buy a Nikon F2 body with a DP-12 attached; the camera body came with a serial number which indicates it was made in 1973; so technically, it was a F2AS but for collection purpose, it may not be the true F2AS, right ??? I think I got some basis to ask where the original body is, huh ?3. From : Terry Langille (twl1@jps.net)

I'm sorry, I am rusty on my own gear: the camera is an F2 Photomic, the 55 lens is a 1.4.4. From : Terry Langille (twl1@jps.net)

I found this site after putting my near-mint F2 and lenses on consignment at a local photo outlet. The last several years have left me little time for photography, and my interests have wandered into the area of digital video. (I have a full Beseler dichroic darkroom I haven't been in for 3 years) My F2 was the first truly primo gadget I owned, and, as corny as it sounds, I would love to see it in the hands of someone who really appreciats it. Please dont mistake my intentions: this is not a sales pitch, more of an adoption appeal. I've got the std 55 lens and a 28wa, the Nikon brown catalog case, as well as the bellows, slide duper and a couple of screens. I also have a 200lb vivitar 70-210, the flash shoe, soft shutter release and, heaven help me, an off-brand autoflash.
At any rate, your site makes me wish I hadn't turned it over to strangers...

Erik,
The DP-12 brings a premium price and it is not uncommon for them to cost $300.00 plus for a nice one. If you are able to purchase one in good condition for $200.00 that is by no means a bad deal. Good Luck !!!7. From : erik (sprocket@linuxfreemail.com)

I'm thinking about buying a F2 photomic I've been offered but Iwould really like to ugrade it to a F2AS by changing the DP-1 unit for a DP-12. Does anyone know what such a viewfinder should cost. So far I've only found DP-12's for sale at around $200. Is it not possible to get them any cheaper than this in working order?8. From : Theodoros Xenophontos (thvx@spidernet.com.cy)

I bought a secondhand F2AS with MD-2. I also got a DS-12 but it doesn't work, when it's ON the unit moves
to the higher apeture of the lens but it doesn't works opposite. I change the shutters but it doesn't work either.
Where's the problem? On DS-12 or on the Finder.
Please help me.9. From : Victor (vistoriousman@yahoo.com)

Greg Murphy, that is true. F2SB is scarce in number and one of the best Nikon F2 regular production bodies (Simply interpret as a non-AI F2AS), yes, I am longing for one but don't seem to have luck getting one in perfect condition. Next, your AF lenses can be mounted onto a F2SB and use without metering. The meter coupling needs the meter couping shoe (rabbit ears) on top of the aperture ring to couple the meter to work. So, in normal circumstances, AF and the manual focus Series E lenses cannot mate with the F2SB's meter and accurate metering is not possible. Oh, I have just read from the site that, the NEW G-series lenses is not possible too.10. I have a Nikon F2SB and the F90X. I was wondering about using the auto foucus lenses on my F2. Will it be a problem with this camera? Is there any suggestions to getting faster exposures when using the AF lens with the F2.
Also, the F2 is an awesome camera and many people have tried to buy it from me. It will never be sold.
Thanks for your help.
Greg.
