What a wonderful site for F2 fans.
I have a F2AS with DS12 and was from the last batch,
i.e. 80xxxx and is still looked like new.
Anyone know is there any known common problems with F2 ?

The first two digits of the F2's serial number corresponds to the year of manufacture. So yours is from 1980, amongst the last F2's to be built.

Hi :) I just got a Nice F2, normal prism. SN: 806XXXXXX Can anyone tell me around what year it was made? (its Chrome). BTW, I have an MD2 (got it in the lot) with no MB. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Diego K.

I have been given a Nikon F2AS black that needs the bottom cover. Just email me if you have one in reasonably good condition to discuss price. Remember, it has to be black.
Thank you. William.

Hi all ! I just found a MD-1 with MB-1 and I was able to compare and change the knobs with a MD-2 I have. I can confirm that the respective knobs are fully interchangeable between the MD-1 and MD-2. Interestingly, the battery compartment is always a MB-1, even those coming with the MD-2 (I understand the MB-2 has only 8x1.5V batteries and came with the smaller MD-3). But there are two versions of the MB-1. The "old" one which came with the MD-1 has an analog battery check, while the "new" MB-1 which came with the MD-2 has a red LED on the side for battery check. Moreover the "old" MB-1 has black paint metal on the bottom while the "new" MB-1 has black leatherette. BTW, there is a small confusion on the site: the red LED on the MD-2 which is missing on the MD-1 is not a battery check, but has to do with power rewinding. Battery checks are always on the side of either version of the
MB-1. Are MD-1s more difficult to find than MD-2s?

I take this opportunity to thank you for the brilliant Nikon website you built.

Cheers, Philippe

Good question. I have checked both the few instruction manuals of Nikon F, F2 and Nikkormats and it was not specifically mentioned nor listed the model number in these sites. Anyway, the problem is, they have not provided with any specific model number except being mentioned as "Rubber Eyecup" because it can be shared among Nikon F and F2 bodies (and I think it can also be used on the Nikkormat bodies too). However, you may use Nikon Part Number as reference: 2313 well, I doubt any retailers stock any of these anymore, except some experienced sales assistants who may still able to differentiate them for you with newer ones. The early DK series numbers are for later Nikon bodies such as Nikon F3 etc.

I recently bought an F2 Photomic and cannot find a rubber eyecup that will fit it. The Dk-2 and Dk-4 are too large. Was an eyecup actually made for the F2... one that will fit the photomic finder? Where oh where can I find one? I'd really appreciate any help!!!

A new comer to this site. Been very fascinated with what F2 is. My question if someone can help is: what is the estimated value price for a mint F2-A or F2-AS. I am eyeing one on Ebay. Please help me so I can gauge it and not be ripped off. Thanks to all
