I recently bought an F2 Photomic that is in excellent condition, but with one small problem. The black sponge rubber strip that cushions the mirror when it flips up is coming apart. Is this something that can be easily repaired by a guy like me (moderately handy with small tools)? What kind of sponge rubber strip can be used to replace it? Must the mirror bounce be configured or recalibrated afterwards? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Chip2. From : Jeff (jdhardy@earthlink.net)

Hi everyone, I have a Nikon F2S Black Body with a MD-3 winder.I have owned it for some 20 years and it works like a Swiss watch. I had some problems with the meter also, so I sent it out for repair. The cost was under 100 dollars. they fixed the meter, checked the shutter speed, and cleaned it. It was like a brand new camera. Spend the money and protect your investment. I am now looking through E-Bay trying to pick up a Nikon F Body. I love the older non-Autoeverything Cameras. - Jeff3. From : Winston (winclowe@yahoo.com)

George: The switch is at the bottom of the camera; remove the bottom cover and look in the area below the film advance lever. Please check out my web page for camera related links Parts, tools and more. Hay you can see some Canons there too. Good luck, Winston4. From : George Richardson (george.richardson@uk.bosch.com)

Hi Everyone, I have just purchased a nice F2 Photomic from Ebay and it must not have been used for a while. The cells in the body were quite corroded. I cleaned the holder out and it looks fine now but I think the on-off switch on the winder is not working as I can't seem to make the meter switch off. (Probably accounts for the dead batteries too.) Can anyone provide me with information as to how to get at the on-off switch so that I can look it over? Regards to all. George5. From : Nelson Simas (simas@br.ibm.com)

Congratulations to all of you! Using the information contained in this site and with the help of many of you ( specially from Mr Pachijama's procedure: http://www8.plala.or.jp/ovtrue/insidef2/contents.htm ) I could finally repair my F2. It was a very simple task. I had only to remove the bottom cover to clean the switch that suplies power to the meter. I am very happy. Thanks.6. From : Toc M. Wilson (tocwilson2001@yahoo.com)

GREAT SITE ! I have been scouting for such information for a long time and has not been able to locate a good, high quality website on the internet for favourite F2AS. I did a search again last week through Google and WOW, this superb Nikon F2 page pops up. Since then, I have been busy browsing around in here for more than a week now and was really amazed with what it has to offer for a hungry information seeker such as me. The richness and quality of content with nice graphic should easily rate this site among my pick for top websites in the internet today ! Shame to Nikon and they should come here and pick up how to do website ! Compliment to leofoo and Company, because I can read passion in your site and I really appreciate for such a fantastic work done for all photography lovers !!!7. From : Winston (winclowe@yahoo.com)

I have this F2 with out a finder and have been looking for any finder that will work on the F2 no meter or one with a bad meter. Any way good luck with your, Winston

I have a few questions I would like to ask the F2 owners 1, what do you do with your meter finders when the meter stops working? 2, why are so many F2 for sale are body only? 3, does any one have a none working meter finder that they would like to sell? I just got my first Nikon F2 last week and need some kind of prism to be able to use this camera that I have been hearing so much good things about. I have been using Canons for over 28 Years and thought its time to try a Nikon. Winston10. Jay:From what I understand if the batteries are good and power is getting to the meter it should work. If not the cells are bad and they are no new cells available, you have to look around for a good used head. I am looking for a head for an F2 working or none working as I don’t have any kind of prism for it, if you are selling your old head please let me know how much you want for it. Winston
