Industry wide indications and ceasing film body development by Pentax altogether in early 2003 more than suggest the manual focus Pentax LX will not be having an upgrade (except, perhaps for very rare Limited Edition Models hand assembled by special commission by the new HoyaPentax Corporation). In 2008 Pentax became a division of Hoya Corporation, which had together with Pentax released jointly developed professional grade optics (since 2005); Pentax has shifted its attention to development of auto focus Digital SLRs having build qualities constructed for the long run--now with weather seals--like the LX. You may use this site for common support and sharing of mutual users knowledge or experiences among yourselves. You may also use this message board as a guestbook for the advanced users Pentax SLR cameras from the LX forward, including many such auto focus film cameras, and Pentax digital SLR cameras. We keep the site going too for the WORD SEARCH FEATURE found here as to its magnificent K mount system user archives: as have been shared here for many years. Have an inquiry related to Pentax gear? First try KEYING IN YOUR KEY WORD(S) for a preexisting archived response on your subject of inquiry from this LX site. If your inquiry or sharing is from advanced users K10D, K20D, or K200D SLR needs, proceed on to t NEW PENTAX ADVANCED USERS K10D, K20D SLR site.
This LX site was specifically created for the great Pentax LX SLR camera model(s), and now has incorporated increased opportunity for an expanded interchange with the introductions of the Pentax K10D, K20D, and K200D SLRs to include advanced and professional digital user models. Interchange is encouraged with the intention to continue as a forum for advanced system users of past K-mount film based SLR systems and the mentioned Pentax DSLRs. With decreasing forum traffic here, and enthusiasts moving on with SLR digital imaging products futures, we hope the continued convenience of this site and its past Pentax advanced LX users data archives--provided by the database KEY WORD SEARCH FEATURE found here--can be very useful to you. Most past site user techniques, systems components, and lenses of Pentax advanced applications--as have been past examined by users on this site--are still of use regarding the newest Pentax SLRs. That is a very interesting question: I have asked myself and some friends why is it as well, ain't technological advancement camera better ? The likes of OM1/OM2 in this site has tremendous following as well, so does the Nikon FM and F3 - probably modern cameras lack that kind of feel and more importantly, these bodies allow you to command rather felt being dictated. I did owned a top range Pentax (even a Nikon F5 !) but I have sold them all and reverting back to manual focus oldies - the funny part part, at least the tiny button cell will lasts me a year instead of having a whole set of new power pack that may not guaranteed me even to last a week while not to mention I have to struggle to beefup my body to take that kind of weight ! Lastly, although autofocus is always good and an absolute advantage in action based photography - but I am aging now and most often with nowadays, I think more before I shoot , so ? .... Anyway, everyone has his own way of determining what to buy how to use his equipment, the Z1p/PZ1p is so advance that it is almost impossible to get a theoretical bad picture - but that is the fun about photography, I just want to know more and learnt from those mistakes that I made ! Sounds funny, but that is exactly what has made photography so fun to enjoy with. Peace from S.F.2. From : Tony Davies-Patrick (email@example.com)

I am at a complete loss why the new Pentax MZS has been fitted with such a slow motordrive. Can anybody answer - including Pentax? Why are we still waiting for an up-grade LX model more in line with hard working professionals? In my opinion, the Z1p/PZ1p has many things better - such as faster shutter + flash synch, than the MZS. Why?!3. From : will (firstname.lastname@example.org)

Help me! this isn't about an LX, I have an MX. Does anyone know where i can aquire a clear focus screen similar to LX p/n sd-11, I believe the Pentax p/n for the MX was sd-1? I am trying to do some astrophotography and nobody can seem to point me in the right direction. Thanks for reading this.4. From : steven davis (email@example.com)

Does someone know the typical repair cost for correcting the
"sticky mirror" problem. I understand what causes it, but have heard very little about the best place to have it repaired. Any useful info would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Great site and impressive photos of this equipment. Thanks. Steven Davis.5. From : Diego Campos (firstname.lastname@example.org)

I am a professional photographer/author and have used the Pentax LX for the past 15 years. I also use the Pentaz PZ1p/Z1p bodies. My lenese are both manual M, A series & FA series, and I find no problem using both LX and Z1p together on all of my expeditons world-wide each year.
One very big concern during the past decade has been Pentax's very slow upgrade of the Pro LX system and has lagged far behind the Canon & nikon in many respects. On more than a few occasions I have almost changed brands from Pentax, but after serious thought, chose to stick it out and wait....wait..wait!
At last...the MZS has arrived! Will it replace the LX? I think not, as I feel that the mighty LX system will continue alongside my autofocus 'new' bodies. One things excites me about the MZS, is the vertical grip/power source which seems very useful and more in-line with the old Pentax Super A motordrive.
The most important aspect of my camera system is the Pentax lenses - simply superb (most of the K, KA, F, FA, and especially ED* and FA* series). But the LX stays hanging in there, cobwebs and all....long live the LX!8. From : vicor wallace (email@example.com)

Hi, there seems to be an advertisement to get rid of a (but I would also believe a good investment for those who can afford it) Pentax LX Millennium which is only for sale for a "short period of time..": see: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/ftz/index.php3 that looks gorgeous, but I don't think I can afford one of these set as I am still studying here in Hungary, but I do have a LX with two lenses which were given to me by my uncle a few years ago. Good luck.9. From : vicor wallace (firstname.lastname@example.org)

Hi I recently acquired a Pentax LX body and am trying to find the cover for the FP Sync Terminal and the X-Sync terminal and the Dedicated Flash info. terminals. The Body I got didn't have it. Does anyone have an extra or have any leads as to where I might find one? I already tried Pentax and a few of the service centers with no luck. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.
