Each of these three featured Minolta SLR camera models represent an era of its own to lead and has great influence over the entire photographic community. Unlike the two great Minolta cameras of yesteryears in the XK/XM/X1 and the XD-7, these newer series of Minolta classic served a different segment of users. A neighbor gave my daughter a Minolta Maxxum 7000 with two different lenses. Neither work with auto focus. I have replaced the internal battery but still no luck. Trying to find an Operator's Manual or some guidence as to any problems that I may look for. The camera looks like brand new but is only usable as a manual camera any insite would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Maxxum 7000 purchased in 1985 that always has, and continues to provide excellent service and results. Several years ago, it started to develop a white powdery buildup on the battery compartment and the "rubberized" external parts of the camera and lenses. This substance is difficult to clean off and returns after a short period of time following cleaning. This condition is not unique to my camera as I have observed it on numerous other 7000's. I would like to know what causes this condition, what is effective for cleaning it off and what, if anything, can be done to prevent it from recurring. Thanks for any info anyone may be able to provide.

My dad recently gave me his old Minolta 7000 since I've been taking up film photography. It was in great condition, but there was build up in the battery compartment. I clean all the contact plates off, got all the crud out, and replaceed the batteries.
The camera worked perfectly for the first 3 days, but then turned off randomly. I took it home to change the batteries, and it had turned on again. I try to take a picture and it turns off.
It won't turn back on, and i've tried recleaning the battery holder/compartment, replacing the batteries, and checked the voltage with a volt meter.
Any ideas as to what is wrong??

For those with old minolta lenses you should be able to use these with Sony dslr's as Sony took over the minolta brand.

I have recently replaced a Dynax model with a Sony a390 and all of my old kit fits and works well with it although due to the cross over you can expect a certain amount of crop factor which isnt really a problem with digital as you just take the picture a little further away and edit it in for example photoshop or corel paintshop photo 3 and its all good.

Ive found the change interesting if using filters some rethinking is needed and a samll amount of skill repolishing may be needed to get the most out of your hobby.

Hello,

Does anyone have a diagram of how the mirrors in the viewfinder are supposed to align? I had to take mine out to clean black spots off of them, and of course I did not pay attention how they were mounted.

Thanks,
Rick

I need to buy a lens adapter to be able to connect a Vivitar Minolta lens to a Sony DSLR-A350.All my efforts so far have proved in vain.In this respect I wonder if you could kindly advice me about what I could do or alternatively suggest to me a web site from which maybe I can order this accessory without which I cannot use any of the lenses that I have on my new Sony camera.I thank in anticipation and wait for a reply at your earliest convenience.
