Minolta X-700 | Maxxmum 7000 | Dynax 7000i - Guestbook/Message Board

Each of these three featured Minolta SLR camera models represent an era of its own to lead and has great influence over the entire photographic community. Unlike the two great Minolta cameras of yesteryears in the XK/XM/X1 and the XD-7, these newer series of Minolta classic served a different segment of users. Unfortunately, these bodies have been long discontinued and you may even find it difficult to locate proper support even from their own creator, Minolta. Well, just came across this post (leo is my friend, he is away to Shanghai and I am helping him to check the various Message Boards). I guess to be more appropriate the "First" generation should be re-phased as the "first series of autofocus lenses" launched together with the Maxxum 7000 AF camera. Like most manufacturers, the 35mm prime lenses were being relegated as less importance during initial transitional stage from MF to AF as the focal length was well covered by starting focal length of many zoom lenses. Nikon took 2 years to introduce their prime 35mm wideangle. read:

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/AFNikkor/AF35mm/index.htm

But not being included among the first generation of AF Nikkor when F501 was released; read:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/1stafnikkor/index.htm

While Canon was even later with their AFD 35mm 1:2 introduced late at 1990 (3 years late):
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/eos/EF-lenses/EF35mmf14LUSM/index1.htm

I am not sure when the Minolta 35mm prime were introduced, but from the original literature I had, the first series of lenses introduced with the 7000 had no prime 35mm. Probably Minolta had it introduced later but still, like you said, they should also be concluded as the first generation of prime at the 35mm wideangle.

I own a Minolta Maxxum 700 with extra lenses. I understand that Sony has bought out Minolta. Does anyone know if my Minolta AF lenses and flash will work on any of the Sony cameras (such as their Aplha 350(?) and Alpha 9000)?

Gerry

I have been an avid user of Minolta 7000 and have 2 bodies which need repair, besides an array of AF lenses - 50 mm, 28-85 mm, 70-210 mm, 70-300 mm. For the past several years these I want to shift to digital photography with these lenses. Can you recommend which camera body use which has mounts to accomodate these lenses?

Also, would someone know where to get my two Minoltass repaired in Delhi, India?

Regards.
