I have an X700 that was operating fine until I reloaded yesterday. Now the shutter will not open so I cannot either take pictures or advance the film. I tried replacing the batteries eventhough the LED lights were still functioning; no luck. The camera still will not function. The LED lights go on when I half-depress the shutter but go off when the shutter is fully depressed. Maybe this is a clue. Can anyone tell me what to do?

Thanks

The grey slide next to the rewind button is stuck in the out position so I cannot load film. I have changed the batteries but that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

i have a minolta maxxum 7000, and i wanted to know if the maxxum 2000i flash is compatible with it. i also have an adaptor, so perhaps the 2000i or 2000xi would work with it?

Never mind - I found it! I will be using my x-700 to take pictures to develop with my old my B&W darkroom setup, my 13yo daughter wants to learn how to do photography "the old fashioned way" - meaning "pre-digital". :-)

few days a go, my dad lend me his X-700, but i get some problems on the camera. yesterday, i went out and have some pictures, i advance the films untill i took all the films.(i don't know is the film has finished untill i heard a tick "sound")i heard another light sound. then i replace another film into the camera. when i advance the film again, the lever can't turn anymore after the first 30 degree. i think something is happened inside it. the safe load signal is normal and the film counter display "S". Please help me as fast as you can! If it can be solve by myself, i would try. p.s. i'm a novice...

Hi...Earlier today, I posted a problem I had with my X-700. I thought I had broken the film advance lever mechanism when I pushed the lever one too many times after the film ran out. I have since gotten lucky and resolved the issue. It turns out that when the film ran out and I pushed one more time, it must have not completely clicked into gear. Consequently, the lever just flopped around. However, when I clicked the shutter button one more time, I heard a slight tick...like it hadn't completely engaged...being there was no film to advance.

By chance I tried it again, and low and behold, the tension returned, and it sprung back to normal. It's now working perfectly again. However...the original problem that caused all of this still remains un-resolved. The film counter doesn't return to the "zero" or "S" postion when you open the door. Instead, it pops back to 21 or 22...so there's no way to tell how many shots you have left. That's what caused me to over-crank the advance lever in the first place.

I kept pushing, and eventually the earlier problem occured. I'm still left with the problem though of the film counter not going back to Zero. What would cause that, and is it easy for a novice to fix? Like I said, the film counter works perfectly...it just doesn't recycle back to "Zero" or "S" when the door opens...only back as far as 22 or so. Now I have to remember how many shots I've taken, otherwise I could end up in the same situation again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. T

Help!

Right now, I'm devasted and don't know what to do. Somehow, the film counter on my X-700 wasn't working properly, and not knowing I was at the end of the film, I advanced the film too hard (beyond tight), and heard a snap. I apparently broke something inside that advances the mechanism - you can tell, as there's no tension, and it doesn't click lock anymore. How much would it cost to have that fixed,(if it can be fixed), and where?

I love this camera even more than my higher end expensive models, and I'm nearly in tears at the thought of having to toss this great old X-700 in the trash. Other than what I've just done, the camera is almost in mint condition. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Drowning in a pool of tears....Tom
